Stauntons on the Green

For a city centre, Stauntons is reasonably priced and the breakfast is excellent - proper freshly fried eggs and newly cooked toast, not things that had been hanging around on a hot plate for a year or so.

Much to my surprise (and for the benefit of any others who may also indulge in my terrible habit of smoking) they do have some 'smoking' rooms. I should add that the huge majority of rooms are non-smoking so those who do not wish to follow me are not obliged to do so.

The service is friendly and helpful, and the airport bus goes from just around the corner (although it costs 8 euros, not the 7 euros from the 'city centre', only a couple of hundred metres away).

It's not new and there is no lift but that can be easily forgiven - it is not an impersonal 'business' hotel but a firendly place to stay.

After reading the reviews in Trip Advisor I was expecting a quirky boutique hotel. In fact the place (cannot call it a hotel) is very mediocre with horrible carpets, worn out furniture and an air of neglect. the rooms are just about acceptable but you are only given one smallish towel and inferior toiletries.

On the positive side it is in a great location and the staff is nice. It is a shame that the owners do not bother doing the place up.

This Charming guest house was perfect for us. We received a warm welcome upon arrival. The lady on reception was extremely helpful and made us feel right a home.
Our room was spacious and situated to the rear of the building ,overlooking a garden and the side of a Georgian building which was an unexpected treat. We slept soundly.
I would highly recommend Stauntons B&B if you life being in the centre of things. Everything is in walking distance which suited us perfectly.

I loved this place, the friendly atmosphere, the quietness of the place, how warm it was, how big the room was!

I asked when I booked to have a room not facing the main street, this is what I received, at night it was so quiet! the beds were comfy and the breakfast was nice.

The location was perfect, 5 mins away from Grafton Street, and the heart of Dublin.

Well worth the money, and I would come back again!! Thanks.

We spent 5 nights at this gem in late November. We were in room 409 which was in the newer section overlooking the garden and it was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. There was some noise from adjoining rooms, but it was minimal. The location is absolutely perfect and with wi-fi and breakfast included in the price, the hotel is also a bargain. All the staff were helpful and pleasant and even made sure we had a Continental breakfast on the morning of our departure. We took the complimentary offer of a limo to the airport which made our getaway day calmer than any we've ever experienced. It was the perfect ending to our 25th anniversary Ireland trip!

We booked the morning of our stay, and received the large room on the second floor in the front for just my wife and I. We found the room to be very nice, extremely comfortable, and clean. The staff was extremely pleasant. The price is unmatched for its location. Breakfast was good. The only negative was that the shower controls were reversed (funny for me, but not my wife who was first in the shower). There was some slight traffic noise from the street, but it didn't seem to affect us at all, we slept extremely well.
My wife and I try not to stay anywhere more than once, so as to experience as much as possible. However, without a doubt we will be repeat business here.

We had a lovely five-day stay at Stauntons. We had a charming room in the back with a beautiful view of the gardens. The location was perfect.....close to everything, and we started each morning with a walk across gorgeous St. Stephen's Green. Everyone on the staff was warm and helpful...from carrying our bags up several flights of stairs after an early morning arrival to finding us an early Sunday morning airport cab within minutes. We simply could not have had a better experience, and I only hope that we can return soon.
