Health Hazard!! Electrical shower held together with packing tape, buttons on t.v were missing so had to change channels using a tweezers (no Joke!!), base of bed had collapsed in, mattress supported by pillows. Light in bathroom didn't always work. Didn't order breakfast, given the state of the room, I didn't want to risk it. Its cheap accommodation for a reason!!!
We went to this hotel and it was clean - you get what you pay for.
Only problem was reception was not manned!! had to keep ringing a number to get in contact with the owners. Apart from that everything was fine. Close enough to the centre that you could walk and far enough away it wasnt noisy!
We stayed in Lyndon House for one night mid week and paid only 37euro so we weren't expecting too much!
The rooms were decently sized with comfy bed and, importantly, nice pillows which many cheap hotels don't have!! Everything was clean
However the door to the en suite didn't close properly and couldn't be locked. The shower was nice and clean as well as the fresh towels.
The staff were friendly however we were left waiting at reception for 15 mins because no one answered their doorbell. Then we had to wait while they cleaned our room.
Overall, get what you pay for.
The place smelt, was poorly cleaned, and falling apart. The street its on is nasty there were split bin bags and rubbish everywhere outside, and out taxi driver even warned us not to walk to far as it lead to a very dogy area. The staff were rude and wanted all the money up front without even letting us see the room, I had to explain to the manager who spoke little English what a deposit is. We had to wake the chef up for breakfast, who then proceeded to cough and sneeze everywhere while preparing the food. I could not eat it. After they cleaned the room on the second day no towls were left and it there were no staff around to ask for some. In the end we had to wake up the chef again (who it turned out is also the cleaner) who got some but was very rude about it. She then came up to our room at 9 pm demanding the rest of the money for the week. In the end I got her to agree we would sort it out in the morning, so she would leave us alone. In the end we found another hotel and left on the second morning. We were supposed to stay a week.
This is a list of problems we had;
Bedroom lock broken
Shower only came hot water, not cold to was scalding hot
Bathroom tap leaked and wobbled
Shelf was falling off wall
Lamp shade was smashed
Window would only say open if held open with a bit of scrap metal. It was also single pain so in the middle of a city was not up to the job. Also on top floor and nothing to stop a kid climbing out.
There were many broken springs in the bed so very lumpy
The sheets were so worn there were holes
There were stains on the curtains
Seriously I read the reviews and thought it was just people being picky but its really not. Save your self this experience it nearly ruined our holiday.
