We spent one night here and were pleased with our experience. The room was reasonable size but cold. When I asked for the heat to be turned on, it was, but it took a while to warm up and it was a cold day. We had a room on the second floor that overlooked the beautiful garden. The room had a hot pot with tea and cookies and free WiFi.

The walk into the heart of town was about 10 minutes and there were shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Driving there was easy as well. We used the directions from the airport and if you follow the directions exactly, you'll get there without a problem.

Breakfast was served out in the sunroom and was delicious. There was also a small buffet as well. Overall we enjoyed staying here and would probably stay here again.

The Waterloo is charming and very comfortable. The staff is especially friendly and accommodating too. It's conveniently located within walking distance to the sights of Dublin-as well as many good pubs.

The room was clean and very comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful and kind. We were warmly greeted on arrival and felt like we were saying goodbye to good friends on departure.

We stayed here for four nights and the staff couldn't be friendlier. It was definitely the highlight of our stay. Evelyn, the owner, is really a gem. With that said, we were hoping for a more luxurious experience in a quiet place, as it was the priciest place we'd stayed the entire two weeks we were in Ireland. The first night, we were given a room in the front on the ground floor, just off the lobby, and found it was noisy from the street -- Karen Brown's guide says it's a quiet street; don't believe it for a minute -- and the smoke from the adjoining room was quite smelly. The bathroom was really, really small. We are small people and we could barely fit in it. The sink is so tiny that I could not get my hand under the tap, and I have child-size hands.

Evelyn graciously moved us to another room on that same floor -- ground floor again but in the back. The back yard was much quieter, but now we had to contend with the breakfast room prep noises starting early in the morning right underneath us and the loud voices at the reception area -- a 6 AM departure one morning didn't serve us well at all.

We'd rate the breakfast about a B compared with the other ones we'd had during our travels throughout Ireland. Not much fresh fruit, no cheese or sliced meats. Full Irish and eggs to order good, though. Service was excellent.

Warning: No laundry service available, a disappointment, as we were going to finally get some clean clothes (we thought) after 2 weeks on the road. Evelyn did point us to a nice laundry down the road that was speedy, cheap and did a good job.

Location is a bit of an issue. We loved the neighborhood it was in, with some nice restaurants nearby that are frequented by locals and a fabulous grocery market with upscale wines, produce, cheeses, etc. Evelyn is great at recommending good restaurants and has connections to get a good table.

Again, a caveat on location. You have to like to walk, as it is a good 15-20 minute trek into the heart of Dublin -- St. Stephen's Square area. Cabbing worked out well, but it does add on to the costs. Cabs are the most plentiful in the city of Dublin as anywhere we're ever traveled.

I would recommend this hotel to those who want an authentic experience, who don't mind walking a bit to sights, who don't need full amenities (no kleenex, wash cloths or bar soap), and who want to be in a neighborhood rather than in the heart of the city.

Boasting the winning combination of a great location, comfortable rooms and a warm welcome, Waterloo House is truly outstanding. I have stayed here on a number of occasions in the past and have never been disappointed.

Located in a beautiful part of Georgian Dublin, it is a convenient and pleasant stroll into town. The building itself is an architectural gem containing stunning period features whilst the friendly staff help promote a harmonious and welcoming atmosphere.

In such a seductive setting I defy anyone to sit on the settees by the fireplace with the radio quietly crackling away in the background and not fall in love with the place!

A stay at Waterloo house comes highly recommended and I for one certainly wouldn't consider stopping anywhere else in Dublin.
