Stayed in Dublin for business for 3 days. We decided to stay at the Schoolhouse Hotel for its proximity to the conference we were attending, not knowing much more about the area. What an incredible and happy surprise this hotel was. Historic building with great charm and sophistication.

Each room has the name of a famous Irish person. Lucky me I got the Guinness room! Very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly, helpful and very sweet. The restaurant is extremely good and so is the pub. We'll definitely stay here again next time in Dublin.

Celebrated a 30th birthday party here recently, it was a great venue for a party. The staff were so attentive and the finger food was really good. There was live music here too which was a real added bonus. I would really recommend the school house for parties.

If you're looking for a peaceful place to stay in Dublin, this is great! Both the location and the hotel itself are very quiet, thick walls help you sleep well, whilst Ballsbridge is out of the main drag.

Staff are very attentive, helpful, the bedrooms are a grand size, the beds too. Everything is comfortable but there are just two little things that... well, if the Hotel could sort it... well, that'd make it perfect.

Smoking rooms are offered and our room was above one, so we had regular wafts of cigarette smoke. What a shame. And the shower.. well... we are invited not to use too many towels to save water... well the showers here are like fire station hoses! You have to turn the dial 4x to get from cold to hot, and in doing so, it fills the bath tub to your ankles!

We loved the Schoolhouse in the main - but just these two little, teeny things made it fall short of perfect.

Room Tip: Don't go for the 100s - seemed a tad dark & musty and used by smokers!

We had our first dinner in Ireland at the Schoolhouse. Our arrival day was Good Friday, not a particularly good day for finding a nicer restaurant because of the common practice of closing on this day of the year. We found that the Schoolhouse was open for dinner and was within walking distance of our hotel. Built as a parochial school in 1859, it was totally renovated as a hotel and restaurant. It reopened in 1998, providing superior service in a charming setting that has retained much of its character from the earlier period. Our restaurant service could not have been better. Attentive service was matched with an excellent menu, all in a romantic setting. We had a delightful dinner and a wonderful start to our first Irish vacation experience.

This is a nice place, friendly staff and an excellent bar and bar food. The location is good, nice and peaceful but only a short walk (c 15 mins) to the bustle of central/ downtown Dublin. My bedroom was a good size and with a very comfortable bed. the bathroom on the other hand was rather small but it had the most powerful shower ever (but over the bath and with a shower curtain - one of my pet hates)
I'd stay here again but it's not a 4-star in terms of facilities - the web site has pictures of services, like the gym, which aren't on site. This is a excellent 3-star hotel

We stayed two nights at Schoolhouse and it really could not have been nicer stay. The Bram Stoker room was a great size, the amenities were exactly what we needed, and the location was excellent as well. Far enough away from the hubbub, but a nice walk if we wished to experience the hubbub.

We pre-paid for a full breakfast and felt it was a lovely value. Great food, freshly prepared. We also had a nightcap in the bar our second evening and it was wonderful. The ambience is very relaxing and architecturally interesting as well.

The best part was the service. Zoe, at the front desk, especially was fantastic and super helpful with questions, etc. We plan on returning to Dublin in the next few years and plan to stay here again. We would recommend it to any type of traveler, who wants something more than a B&B.
