This hotel is located at the junction of a main road (handy for buses into the centre) and the canal. Quite a nice setting on the canal side but would not want to walk along the main road late at night. Was advertised on our booking site as "close to St Stephens Green" but think that was stretching things a bit. We did walk in on arrival but it was a good 20 minutes (and we are quite nippy walkers). Luckily we had a transport pass so used buses the rest of the time.

Very friendly and helpful staff both on reception and in the bar for breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable and elegantly furnished. "Toiletries" consisted of just shower gel in a dispenser on the wall so would recommend taking your own.

Breakfast as fabulous - good choice of cereals and juices. Hot tea and coffee. Nice waitress service of toast and jams. And a choice of cooked - we had the full Irish and it was excellent - good quality produce.

Despite the hotel being over the pub which stays open until the early hours, and having a weekend nightclub, we were not disturbed at all by any noise.

Definately recommend staying here if you dont mind being "off centre"

This place is the bee's knees. We were skeptical after seeing a few bad reviews, but when we arrived here we were so happy we booked this hotel! The front desk staff let us check in early and had the maid clean our room first so we could move our belongings in. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Bathroom was nice. Hotel had great amenities and the staff were wonderfully pleasant and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was delicious-so much food. As many reviews will warn you, it does get a bit loud at night from the nightclub and street below. It was tolerable and once we shut our window we could barely hear the cars and people outside. Overall we had a wonderful experience here and will be returning every time we stay in Dublin.

Exactly what I needed for my base to explore Dublin over a weekend. Location was ideal, nice view from the room over the river. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room itself was ideal but the bathroom could do with updating - there was lots of filler everywhere and the shower was more like a tap than anything else. Putting that aside, the price was right and I would definitely stay here again.

My bedroom was beside reception so I was kept awake by doors opening and closing all night, and by the night porter chatting at 4am. The room was spacious with wifi, tea and coffee and a large tv. The carpet could do with a clean and the bed was not the most comfortable. The bathroom had been recently upgraded and was excellent, although the bin had not been emptied. I won't be back.

I read some not so nice reviews about this place, and I'm glad to say that my stay here was great. The refurbishment is over, and everything looks cozy and nice. The staff is awesome, the bed is comfy, and zero noise from the pub downstairs. The room was spacious and comfortable, bathroom was impeccable. For all this, quality-price ration is one of the best on town. The area itself, Portobello, has regenerated itself in the last few years and now it has a sort of bohemian air to it. Of course, it can take a while to go to the city centre, but a good walk is ok. Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the canals, totally worth the try.

Had a very pleasant 4 night stay at this hotel. The location is just on the edge of the city center of Dublin, but easy to go there on foot. Within 15 minutes you're at St. Stephens Green. Hotel is situated on a lively street, and I loved it, so many little restaurants and pubs to choose from. You always had to ring the doorbell to enter the hotel, and that gave me a good feeling of security, there's 24/7 one of the very friendly staff members to assist you. Hotel and (spatious) rooms look a bit old, but it all works and it's clean! The only downside I can think of is that it can be a bit noisy by the downstairs pub noises. But it didn't bother me too much. I'm pretty sure that I'll stay here again on my visit to this fair city!
