Extremely good! Just perfect! Clean, quiet, good breakfast, all you need in a room, good location, lovely owners, couldn't wish more than that for a price just a little higher than in a hostel. Will definitely return and advice this hotel to all my friends!!!

The lady on duty when we arrived was very friendly and helpful, and offered us advice on parking and where to go to have a quick drink after a long drive. She quickly provided me with an ironing board when requested.

The room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. I found the bathroom a little tight, but I am very tall so this may be more a problem with me than with the bathroom :o)

The breakfast was only OK. I do like a hearty breakfast, and this was a little lighter than I prefer, but it was served in a pleasant room, and with a smile.

The hotel is well placed for the city centre, and easy to acces from the motorway. The one thing it lacked from a vehicular perspective was a car park, though the meters on the road outside only run from 0700 to 1900.

I had a wonderful stay Oct 25 - 29 after getting a great deal through Expedia. This Hotel is very nice & has many traveller friendly amenities. Reception Staff was welcoming & check-in/check-out was fast & painless. Breakfast was sumptous & freshly prepared. The friendliness of the Nolan's family who owns the Hotel staff was what made our stay outstanding. They went beyond the extra mile in meeting our needs. On two of the days, we had to leave earlier than breakfast hours & they packed a sandwich for us to take along. Nancy, Olga & Gerald were simply Customer Serrvice PERSONIFIED & assisted us in every which way. The Hotel is just 3 minutes walk to the Spire on O'Connell street. Dublin Buses 41 & 16A to the Airport operate every 20 minuts for 1.80 euro & stop 1 - 2 blocks from the Hotel. Overall this was the best value for the Money with ALL the Amenities. It is safe & they kept our valuables in a Locker downstairs. Thank You Nancy, Gerald & Olga for your Irish Warm Welcome & it was a Home away from Home for us. I highly recommend this Hotel for anyone who is looking for a safe, convenient & extremely hospitable B & B. If you want bells & whistles, 250 channels TV, Porters & bellhops & other frills go to the Gresham's Hotel to pay 4 times higher ! But if is Hospitality & conveneince you want at a very reasonable price, Dergvale is the Hotel.

We stayed here for 1 night before moving to a more expensive place that we had previously made reservations for. For the money, this place is very acceptable. Our room was small but very comfortable and really clean; in fact, the entire place seemed very clean although somewhat dated. The breakfast service was nicely done and the food was quite good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an inexpensive place to stay near the city center area.

We stayed 4 nights and after having a hard time finding it (there is a Gardiner Street close to the hotel where everyone sends you) we were very pleased.
The rooms are a bit small but absolutely clean and as we only stayed in the room for sleeping it was fine for us. The room we had was to the back so we did not get any noise from the street. We only heard the neighbors who were knocking at each others doors all the time. The walls are thin and you can always hear if anybody is next to the room.
The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was ok for us. When we mentioned that the hair dryer was broke, we got a key to another room which was empty so we could use it there which was very nice. We had fresh towels every day and there was really nothing to complain about.
Breakfast was fine for us too, they make it fresh as you want it when you sit down. Coffee was a bit thin but the tea was fine.
As it is close to the upper end of O’Conolly Street, you can walk everywhere from the hotel. But bus stations are near too, so this would be no problem. We also walked to the Aircoach that takes you to the airport, walking time to the station is about 10 minutes.
From the outside the hotel seems very simple and no one really knew it when we were trying to find the way to it. But the street was ok and safe, so no problem at all.
As we left very early in the morning, we were even asked if we would like to have a tea or a toast as a small breakfast which was very nice.
There is a small TV in the room with several Irish/English programs.
I can definitely recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a cheap room, close to O’Conolly Street, very clean and very nice staff and you don’t care about the size or the little “old” look, go there!

I have stayed at the Dergvale many times and did so again this Mid-term. The welcome is always warm, the room was absolutely gleaming and the breakfast was great. Yes it is a little old-fashioned, but has everything you need. Also, bear in mind, it is a 2 star hotel and you pay for what you get. In my opinion, it would put a lot of 3 stars to shame. It is only a few minutes walk to O'Connell street. The Nolan family who run it were always helpful, no matter what your request. The only downside I would mention, is, having to ring to Reception everytime you fancied a cuppa, but it was never a bother for staff, and it always came on a tray, with biscuits. It was outstanding value per night, at this time of year. Some people might find the noise from the streets outside a bother if you have a front room, as it did get a bit loud late at night, but it didnt bother me wholly. With its convenient location, great value and friendly staff, I will no doubt, make many a return trip.
