“Decent and great value but.....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014

Dergvale is a city centred hotel, close to shops, pubs, Trinity College and Temple Bar. It is an old building, but it is kept in a very good condition. It is extremely clean and reception is always helpful. Furniture is a little bit old but match the decoration of the hotel. Breakfast is good and is served every day, no buffet, you just order whatever you like from the menu. There is always a radio station playing in the breakfast room with news and chat programmes, thing which is a little boring and sometimes annoying....The only problem is with soundproofing in the rooms, as you can hear everything next door...

Room Tip: You can ask for rooms facing the street to have a view

Stayed here while on a 3 days visit to Dublin. Our room (No4) was clean and very comfortable with a good shower. All the staff where friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was good and kept us going well into the day. Although it doesn't look much from the outside it is great place to stay if you want to explore Dublin. Five minutes out of the door and you are on O'Connell Street in the centre of the city. If you want a clean, comfortable good value, no frills hotel look no further. My only gripe is there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room ,so bring your travel kettle.

Room Tip: Our room (No4) was at the back and was very quiet. Hence good night sleep!

Lovely little hotel in need of renovation, but perfectly acceptable for the cost and star rating. Very helpful staff always on hand to give advise and answer queries. A late breakfast was offered, which was greatly appreciated. Some

Dublin locals questioned the safety of the area where the hotel is located, however we had no problems at all and always felt safe.

Room Tip: The rooms get a bit chilly in February when the heating isn't on during the day, and in the midd...

The best first impression you could wish for from a place you visit is a friendly greeting. The staff offered me that. I would certainly stay here again. Yes, some TLC is welcome in the room, but that's nothing when you put into the equation the value paid for it, the quality of beds, and the location. Breakfast was delicious and fresh.

Stayed here at the start of February and I was a little uneasy at first after reading some of the reviews here. But my mind was put right at ease when I experienced the personal service given by the receptionist on arrival. Friendly, mannerly, and showed us to our room. Explained all we needed to know. The room was extremely clean, and the bed exquisitely comfortable. I normally have trouble with my back when I travel, but no worries here. Bathrooms were small, but was surgically clean.
Breakfast was simple but tasty. Choice of cereals, Eggs sausage and rasher. Tea and toast galore.
Lovely snug area downstairs with bar and leather wrap around couches. Big TV for watching matches :-)

Proximity to the top of O' Connel st. 5 min walk max.

Really enjoyed our stay here, and will definitely stay again

Room Tip: Stayed in no.18. I had not one bad experience

This hotel was amazing and so much more than I expected, considering I booked at a hostel website and was expecting a hostel vs a hotel. At ~25 euro/night, the quality is more than excellent. Yes, the room was a bit small, but this isn't the Waldorf. The staff are EXTREMELY nice and pleasant. There is a bar in the back and you can have a nice pint of Guinness. There is only wi-fi available in the lobby, but this is how most hotels in Europe are. The location was excellent, w/in walking distance to O'Connell St. and bus stops. The free breakfast in the morning is also great. Overall, I found the Dergvale to be very cozy and quaint, and would absolutely stay there again if I visit Dublin again.
