“Nice, modern rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2013 via mobile

I was here for business, therefore the hotel in that neighbourhood, for sightseeing, it's a bit far from the centre. The rooms are modern with a fireplace tv below the tv :-)! The air conditionning was difficult to handle, the conditionning shaft just over your head while sleeping. All in all it's a recommendable hotel!

I have stayed in the Hampton a few times and I find it to be a great choice for staying in the Southside of Dublin. Free parking and sea water pool down the road included. Large TV screen, well designed rooms and not overpriced. Bus outside the door to centre.

Room Tip: Choose a back room for better sleep.

Everything was fine!
Nice room but a bit small, very mod and trendy but then there was noise and banging all through the night!like a room next door was being done up or furniture being arranged!
Especially from about 7 on!!they love to bang doors alot!!

Situated in a Georgian terrace in the Dublin suburb of Donnybrook, the hotel is decorated in an ultra-modern style and in addition to accomodation offers a bar and nightclub (I stayed mid-week so there was no impact in terms of noise).

Positive
-location close to Dublin city centre (10 minutes by taxi)
-well-maintained
-friendly staff
-good range of items on breakfast menu

Negative
-quality of food at breakfast (eg french toast was greasy, porridge was dry) and the portion sizes are too big (the hotel could save money by reducing by one third)
-windows in the bedrooms are sealed shut, meaning one has to turn on the air conditioning and as a result the room cannot be made to feel "fresh"
-paint in rooms needs to be touched-up

Friendly staff.
Very big and spacious rooms with huge TV and dvd place (also dvd selection in reception)
Nice food.
Cool bar with outside seating, although very quiet.
Outside of Dublin city, but has good transport links.
Not cheap.

Based on the list of cons, I would normally rate this property 4 out of 5, but its design is soooo unique that I ought to give it a 5.

Pros:
- very unique design (look at the pictures)
- huge flat TV, DVD and cool electronic fire place, all controlled by a modern smart remote control (Logitech Harmony)
- spacious room and spacious bathroom
- air condition
- steady and strong WiFi signal
- friendly staff

Cons:
- location is a bit far from the center (20-30 min walk or 8-10 Euro by taxi)
- King size bed is actually a zipper-bed, i.e. composed of 2 beds zipped to one another, so you would definitely feel the 'crack' in the middle
- the window in my room could not open (by design), so there was a bit lack of air in the room
- the elevator is small and its door closes very slowly (I was told that these cannot be fixed due to some regulations)
- the bath is a bit too high (you almost have to climb to get inside)
- there are a few steps in the front door as well as in your room floor, so you'd need to carry your luggage up a few steps

Room Tip: try to get a room with a window that actually opens
