“Great weekend lived up to expectations”
Reviewed 25 March 2010

The positive reviews of the Hampton Hotel influenced us to select this for a 3 day break to Dublin. We checked in very early expecting the room not to be ready but the room was ready and waiting. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful with maps and travel advice and the room (no 400 Select) was spacious and well appointed. The decor is not everyone's choice as it is modern and minimilist with bold reds and blacks. I couldn't live at home with it but for a short stay it was fine. All the hotel staff , front desk, bar and cleaning were very helpful and customer service was excellent, everyone had a smile and a welcome -- great Irish Hospitality even if most of the staff were not from Ireland!
The hotel is quite a walk from the city centre but it is through the Georgian area, nice parks and the Trinity College, Grafton St area but taxis and buses are plentiful if needed. The Aircoach from Dublin airport stops directly outside the hotel making the transfer very easy.
Also we ate at the Queen of Tarts and Millstone restaurants as recommended in the Tripadvisor restaurant guide. Great food and atmosphere and reasonable fair prices for the quality and service offered.

I can't really add much to other reviews - this is a very good hotel that looks Georgian from the outside but has been modernised extensively inside. It is located outside of the city centre with free parking. There are bus stops very close to the hotel.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. We booked one preferred and one select (upgraded) room and there really was nothing between them that would justify the higher price of the select room. In fact, both our standard and preferred rooms had king size beds which the hotel website state is only a feature of the "style" room, which is a double upgrade. The bed was very comfortable though we were woken twice during the night by inconsiderate drunks (though this is not the hotel's fault).

Breakfast is good value (10 euros maximum charge but can me less depending on what you order) though "fruit" should not consist of just 3 strawberries and they ran out of soda, but didn't bother to tell us until we asked for some (it was part of the continental breakfast).

The WIFI (free) signal was a bit patchy in our room and we had some difficulty connecting at times though our room was on the highest floor at the end of the corridor (it should still work though).

I would recommend though not sure the upgraded room is worth the higher price.

I booked the Hampton for my Husband's 30th and as a conscious traveller had loads of questions and requests for the hotel before booking. Each question was answered and they accommodated exactly what I wanted. The hotel itself is stunning, very modern and almost overwhelming decor which is pulled off to perfection.
The staff are AMAZING every single person we met went overboard to be courteous and helpful, Food is great especially the breakfast and the chef accomodated a very fussy veggie for dinner perfectly, I would highly recommend booking a DBB package here!
Location wise it's great, loads of buses, nice walk into the city centre and nice to get back and away from the bustle after a busy day!
The room itself was lovely, we stayed in the style standard so one of the mroe expensive choices, bed was great, huge TV and fire the one thing I would be slightly negative about is the bathroom ( and i'm being picky here!) they are really advertised as a main feature of the hotel and ours was nothing special really - it was huge with a double sink but the floor heater didnt work, the toiletries aren't amazing and the bath and shower are pretty bog standard (pardon the punn!) but don't let that put you off, if the website hadn't made such a feature of the bathrooms I would have been bowled over anyway!
I've stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels all across the world but can honestly say I have never had service as exceptional as this anywhere else!

Stayed here last weekend with my boyfriend and would definately return! The hotel staff were the friendliest I have ever experienced in a hotel. They provided maps, lists of restaurants to help us with our stay. Our room was very spacious with a HUGE bed. The gadgets in the room were also brilliant. There was a remote control provided that controlled the tv, dvd player and fire place. The best part was the underfloor heating in the large bathroom which was lovely to walk into after the cold weather outside.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Its not as far as we thougt it was from the centre of Dublin and it is easy to get to in either a taxi or bus. Don't think you will beat this boutique yet modern style hotel anywhere in Dublin !

My husband and I spent two nights at the Hampton in late February 2010. We were very impressed with the friendly and helpful staff as well as the comfortable and beautiful room. The manager and his team went out of their way to create a positive stay for us, including offering excellent advice on local restaurants. The hotel chef is friendly and creates a wonderful ambience in the hotel restaurant as well. We will definitely visit the Hampton again when we are in Dublin!

We stayed at the hotel for a few nights in January 2010.
The hotel's reception staff was very friendly and accommodating. She gave us an information pack upon arrival, which had information about the city and good restaurants (which we found more helpful than searching on the net) and also a map.
She was very resourceful about getting around and what's on offer in Dublin, in fact so resourceful that we didn't need our guidebooks!
The room was spacious and quiet. We were away from any traffic noise and slept well. The bathroom was quite large. Considering the room rate, the room has good space.
There is a large deli and a nice pub 5 minutes walk away, if you'd like to eat something back at the hotel or if you want to eat nearby. Please note that there is no fridge in the room.
The only downside of the hotel was that it was away from the city centre. I guess this is why we get the good room rate, space and quietness.
There are different buses going there frequently. We decided to walk everyday as we wanted to feel that we are in Dublin. It's a 30 min walk from Stephens Green.

The hotel rooms have free Wi-Fi.

The Hampton is lower priced than most nice hotels in Dublin, but its really really nice, so you get a great deal!
The rooms are big, the bathrooms are amazing and the staff are all extraordinarily helpful, especially Gudren. Free parking, Wifi, room service, free movies, ad doors that open for you.
