“Trendy, modern and excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2010

I stayed here for a long weekend break in february. It is located a short bus or taxi ride from the center which was perfect for us as I think the location makes it a bit cheaper than staying right in the heart of the tourist areas. The staff were really lovely and freindly and able to help us out with all our enquiries about how to get to places and where to go in the day and evening.

The room was really nice, big and spacious with loads of wardrobe space and a massive television on the wall! (Although the only thing I would say about that is the speakers for the tv seemed to be really loud in the bathroom which was a bit odd but nothing to put down the expereince though).

The bed was king size and very comfy and the room was quiet. The bathroom was sparkling clean and had lovely toiletries for your shower.

The decor of the hotel is very trendy and modern with dark purple and black walls and carpets and very stylish. The bar was nice and relaxed, and when we ate there the food was good portions and tasty and although a tad pricey, it was pretty much average price comparable with most places in Dublin.

If you don't mind not being dead in the centre of Dublin then this is a really good choice. They are supposed to be opening a nightclub underneath it, which may make it a little noiser with people milling around outside, however, I would definatley recommend it and would most probably stay there again if I go back to Dublin.

I booked this hotel as a present for my partners 25th Birthday.
The room, hotel and facilities - fantastic... amazing decor and very comfortable.
Staff / Service -
Bar Staff - We had breakfast on the 1st day and ordered a full Irish, the breakfast didn't have all the food as stated on the menu and the staff chose not to tell us and just thought we'd notice.
A young waitress who served us was very rude and told another couple that they couldn't have breakfast eventhough their was 20minutes left before stated closed time.
As a result we decided to have room service for breakfast for the futher 3 nights and this was alot better.

Reception - All of the reception staff were marvellous except for one lady 'Christiana' I believe her name was. I asked this lady about the Merry Ploughboy just out of town as this was a main attraction that my partnet and I wanted to visit. The receptionist told us we didn't have to book and just to head there whenever we were ready.
Well this information was completely incorrect, you had to be there by 730 & u must book before. As a result we didn't get to visit the one place we were dying to see when booking Ireland.
However, one lady on reception was unbelievably helpful she recommended the most lively restaurants too us and told us where not to go... I believe her name was 'Gurdeep' or something similar.
Advice - Get breakfast in the City as it's cheaper and definitely buy hop on, hop off bus tickets as you can get anywhere with them.
Don't take the advice that reception give you as Gospel.

My partner and I very much enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Hampton Hotel! The room was great and I loved all the amenities, like the BIG bathroom and wonderful bathtub, the DVD player, and the 42 inch TV with surround sound! We had been traveling around Ireland for awhile before we landed in Dublin and very much enjoyed the relaxing, quiet room.

The staff and concierge were extremely helpful. They helped us book some tours and also recommended where to have dinner and made us a reservation for that night.

The only downside some may find to the hotel, is that it is about a 15-20 minute walk into the City Centre. If you are use to walking, it is very easy, straight forward route. There is a bus right outside for those that do not want to walk.

Everything you could possibly need. Friendly staff, lovely modern room and bathroom. Fantastic breakfast. About 15 minute walk into centre of Dublin - bus stop outside if you haven't the energy.

Let me start by saying the staff here were fabulous - very attentive and couldn't do enough for you so a gold star for them - well done. Unfortunately the hotel for me was a big let down. This is not my definition of a four star. Although it's trying very hard to bill itself as a boutique hotel it's way off the mark. Here's why:
Lacks tasteful style - too 80s batchelor
No fluffy bath robes
The 'terrace' was in the car park
Bubbled wallpaper
Shoddy, tired paint work
Cheap furniture
Dark, gloomy restaurant
No power shower

You've got to try harder than this if you want to be a boutique hotel I'm afraid. A 42 inch cinematic TV screen and big room do not define a four-star boutique. Sorry but thought the description of the hotel and the reviews were misleading hence why I'm so disappointed!

We recently stayed in the Hamptons Hotel in Donnybrook for one night in a luxury suite. Our experience was excellent and we cannot recommend this boutique Hotel highly enough. The staff are very friendly and efficient, the room was very high spec with a fabulous ensuite bathroom and rain shower. The room was a very generous size with a really comfortable bed. We had champagne on arrival outside on the parasole covered seating in this leafy Dublin (which came with chocolate dipped strawberries). We had a lovely meal in the trend restaurant and a fab breakfast in bed the next morning. All in all a great hotel within walking distance to the city center and on the aircoach bus route to the airport.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, great view, reasonable prices. My friends stayed across the park and paid 2 1/2 times more than I did for rooms at the Four Seasons that were stuffy and sterile. The Hampton had a lot of character and after a week of driving across Ireland I loved having an early night and sinking into my cushy bed and watching a cheesy movie on the big flat screen TV over a glass of wine from the bar. A taxi from the hotel to Temple Bar was around 8 Euros. Bus stop is right out front also.
