“Very happy with Waterloo Lodge”
Reviewed 24 December 2012

We stayed as a family of four in a family room this week. We really enjoyed staying here, it was clean, convenient and a very reasonable price - less than 500euros for the four of us for five nights, including yummy cooked breakfast and two loads of washing! The lodge was just as I expected from the reviews and photos - not new, or the top of the range, a little bit tired in the decor, but nothing to complain about! The reception staff were always very friendly and happy to help, offering to do the washing for us for 12 euros a load was a great help! We mainly caught taxis in to town from here, as it was cheaper than a bus for the four of us - between 8 and 12 euros, depending on traffic, and it cost us around 30 euros for a taxi to and from the airport. Taxis are very plentiful in Dublin!! Never any trouble hailing one at the front of the B&B. We enjoyed the local restaurants, at least 10-20 within close walking distance, our favourite was the american diner themed, Eddie Rockets, not very Irish, but fantastic burgers and about a two minute walk from the Lodge. We would definitely stay here again, close enough to walk to town if you wish, but far enough away to be away from all the christmas shindigs! For a family, ask for room 105, only a few stairs to lug your suitcases, and very quiet for sleeping - just a little bit of walking noise on our ceilings on occasions!

Room Tip: Room 105 for a family room is great - not many stairs and at the back of the hotel, so very quiet fo...

This place has the nicest staff. They will do anything to help you and very friendly. The place itself is getting a little shabby due to age but it is good value for money. I got what I paid for: a bed, shower, and a cooked breakfast at 8am as promised. It was the cheapest in the area and I would stay again.

Room Tip: I stayed in 102 which was at the front, meaning it was a bit noisy due to the traffic.

I have stayed in this B&B a number of times, and have always been very happy with everything. The double room is spacious, the staff welcoming, and the breakfast delicious. It's conveniently located within a walking distance from St Stephen's Green, and there's also a number of cafes and restaurants just around the corner. Considering the general standard of affordable accommodation in Dublin, I definitely think this one is well worth the money.

I must say the location was great, next to a bus station that takes you directly to a major train station and major Dublin attractions. However, the cleanliness of the rooms was very poor, especially the bathroom. Other than that, everything was just OK and forgot to mention, full Irish breakfast was very delicious and fresh! Worth staying if you are on a budget.

Wonderful experience with hospitaliy and accommodation from the cheerful and kind staff. One night we had no heat and a portable heater was provided within 20 minutes. Thanks! Would go back to that lodge next time in Dublin.

Stayed at this B & B in April when attending a concert in Dublin. It is located in a very convenient area for most places in Dublin city centre. It is a short enough walk (20 mins.) to city centre. There are also a selection of places to eat nearby. Friendly staff, warm rooms, but, overall, quite average accomodation.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the location was very good. The rooms were however somewhat shabby (torn linens, leaky shower) and not clean. Layers of dust could be wiped off the various furnishings and woodwork.
