This was a great place to stay. It's a bit of a walk to all the main attractions, but the price was great. Breakfast was reasonably priced 5-9 euro. The rooms were clean. The building itself is charming and the front desk staff were very helpful.

We were at the Charleville Lodge three weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was good, but the shower could use a renewal. Otherwise, the room was good, quiet, and clean. The front lounge is very nice, and the receptionist was wonderful! Kinda far from the city center, though.

stayed here last weekend while at a show in Dublin. the location was lovely and phoenix park was just a short drive away. mc gowans bar and restaurant (recommended by hotel) was just a short walk away and the food was lovely. for the price you pay you get a quality stay in a lovely friendly hotel.

We felt really comfortable during our stay at charleville lodge - room was nice, bed was made every day, bathroom was a bit old, but clean and new towels were brought every day. Breakfast was good as well. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help.
Location is good - Walking takes around 20 minutes to centre. There is also a bus station close by, but we never used it.
Charleville lodge is definitely recommendable!

Pros; Room warm, beds comfortable, enough hot water for shower & towels, front desk staff helpful, bus stop in front of building
Cons; Hallway smelled of fuel oil, ceiling light in room hanging from bare wires, broken lamp in room, entry & bathroom door knobs falling off, need to drop room key at desk each time you leave, neighborhood is full of garbage and closed shops.

we stopped here on 21/3/14 for 3 nights for my Mums 75th Birthday There were 11 of us in 6 rooms. Rooms weren't bad a few cosmetic changes in the bathroom are needed. The biggest critiscism is no tea and coffee in the room, in this day and age that is a minimum. There is a tea machine reception but it costs 1 euro a drink, coffee is ok but tea is awful. We ate ate at a nearby pub called McGowans which was good, tell reception you are eating there and they will give you a voucher to get your first drink free. The bus into the centre stops outside the hotel and is 1.70 euros and they are quite frequent. Overall good value for money.
