If you love books, search out this gem of a collection on the grounds of Dublin Castle. Highlights are early papyrus versions of Biblical books, and an amazing collection of Islamic calligraphy.

This is an amazing museum with a wonderful selection of manuscripts including some of the oldest surviving fragments of New Testament texts. Well displayed and organized.

The Charles Beatty Library is located within the Dublin Castle. I planned
to spend an hour hour and ended spending three. The religions section
was incredible. The collection has some of the most beautiful and well preserved
items from major religions. The collection contains one of the oldest Pauline Letters
(180-200 A D) and The City Of God by St. Augustine written in 1100. There were
beautiful examples from Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism , and
other less known religions. Along with the artifacts were excellent written
explanations of the religions. There is so much to learn here that even in three
hours I barely scratched the surface.

What a collection! Beautifully displayed too. This was the last place we visited before having to return to the airport, wish we'd known about it sooner because I would have happily spent a day here looking at all the amazing items.
