“A Gandon Gem”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

I used to work in the freight sector so I had occasion to go inside the building many's a time. Another superb piece of architecture by James Gandon and in a beautiful location on the banks of the river Liffey. Even if you cant manage to get inside, a stroll through the grounds is worth the visit.

“I pass by it everyday.........”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

A wonderful example of James Gandon's architectural skill perched right on the river Liffey. Worth a short walk (from most parts of central Dublin) and close to the Famine monument, Samuel Beckett bridge and IFSC.

“Custom House”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

The Custom House in Dublin is regarded as one of the jewels in the city's architectural crown. A masterpiece of European neo-classicism it took 10 years to build and was completed in 1791. It cost the then not inconsiderable sum of £200,000. It was the greatest achievement of James Gandon who had been brought over from England to carry out the work. http://www.environ.ie/en/AboutUs/HistoryofDepartment/TheCustomHouse/. Train or DART to Connolly Station or Tara St. No Parking.

“Dominating the River Liffey”
Reviewed 1 October 2011

Custom House was a lovely, huge building overlooking the River Liffey. With a great dome at the top, the architecture was impressive and worth a look. Particularly from across the river, the building is mighty and impressive. On the northern side are some lawns which are also worth a look.
