Owner description: This main bridge spanning the Liffey River is wider than it is long.

This is a great spot in Dublin to mark as your "centre" when you're navigating the downtown area as a tourist. You can get some great photos from the bridge, too. But like the other reviewers have noted, the bridge is a very popular spot for beggars. Not to insinuate that these beggars will definitely steal your wallet, but their very presence suggests that you're in an area where you might want to keep a tighter hand on your valuables, especially when the sidewalks get crowded. It's a real shame because this really is a landmark bridge.

Most popular bridge when you are crossing River Liffey. Busy O'Connell Street starts right there. Gets real crowded and beware of your belongings, because there is beggars and all kinds of shady people hanging around.

It's now a vastly wide road bridge, carrying lots of vehicular traffic. It's so broad and flat that you lose the sense of walking over a bridge. The pavements either side have beggars sitting on them. This is not a welcome sight. There are pedestrian crossings where you get to wait in a crowd at either end. The crowds and traffic stop you getting a good view, to appreciate what is actually a grand old landmark. All in all, an unremarkable thing. I say go to the Ha'penny bridge, or the new Samuel Beckett one.

A trip to Dublin is not complete without a stroll on both sides of the river. O'Connell Bridge takes you from bustling O'Connell Street GPO, Statue of Daniel O'Connell and Moore Street to Trinity, Grafton Street and The Green. Its crowded and plagued by beggers (be alert) but a great spot to snap a photo of the city skyline along the river.

All visitor's who come to Ireland must visit the bridge for the views they sum up Ireland. However Dublin council and police need to stop the beggers and drug takers begging on the bridge. I understand all big city's have them but there are times and places. The problem is I don't think they are all genuine just the oppersite. However I would always visit when in Dublin.
