I stayed for about two weeks in this B&B. The place is very nice and cozy. Helen, the owner, is fantastic. She would go an extra mile to make you feel comfortable.

The location is a bit out of the city center, so you have to take a bus along N11 (there are buses every 5-10 min. or so, and it takes about 20-30 min to get there). The location is almost ideal, however, if you are visiting the UCD (university) or RTE.

Given very competitive price, I strongly recommend this place.

My wife and I stayed at Montrose for 5 nights in July 2013. We found it very comfortable, clean and a very well maintained place. The hostess Helen Martin was very helpful and fully involved in the day to day activities of the place. She made us feel very much at home. Irish breakfast was sumptuous and elegantly served. The location is high end, quiet and pleasant. The place is bit out of the town but regular buses take about 15 minutes to the city centre. Purchase of a day ticket will be more practical for bus travel around the city. We will surely stay at Montrose if we go back to Dublin.

Room Tip: We took a room not facing the highway and it was comfortable and quiet.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Montrose. Helen was a wonderful hostess. My parents had stayed there almost 15 years ago. They traveled with us on this trip and she remembered them from their previous stay. She treats her guests just like family! She was very helpful with travel tips about Dublin and transportation. The rooms were very nice and the traditional breakfast was wonderful. The hot tea and coffee here was delicious! Thanks Helen for a wonderful stay!

Owner is a lovely lady, room was clean, tidy and had all amenities required.
Good location. Entrance gate is a bit tight, and parking could be limited.
Owner does have a dog, but there was no disturbance from him.

I travel to Dublin to work on genealogy and have stayed several times at Montrose Lodge. Having stayed at other B and B's on earlier touring trips, once I found this B and B I knew I had a gem. Accommodations in Dublin tend to be on the expensive side so that was my reason for first looking in Donnybrook - hoping to find a nice accommodation that was not overly priced. I usually stay from one to two weeks and have to say I have not found another proprietor who is so accommodating. I have a short walk to the bus that takes me near to Kildare Street where the National Library is located. The bus stop on the way back is REALLY close to the B and B. The rooms are ALWAYS clean, and the breakfast is very satisfying. If you want a B and B that has the traditional amenities but has the added bonus of having a really nice proprietor, then I highly recommend Montrose Lodge. Although there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity, there are two pubs that are on the bus route to and from the B and B in Donnybrook.

I stayed here recently with a colleague while attending a conference in UCD. An excellent location across from UCD, easy to access by bus and in a quiet area. Helen was efficient, business like and also very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, clean and the price was very reasonable. Breakfast was lovely and again Helen was friendly and helpful.
There was a lovely homely feel to the place, and the excellent selection of reading materials, books and magazines available on the landing is a great idea.
Would defininitely recommend .

We stayed for 2 nights, choosing this inn due to its proximity to our friend's home and the fact that it is on the Lepardstown line for the Aircoach for transportation to the airport as well on the Dublin bus line for getting back and forth to the center of town. Ms. Martin was charming and very welcoming. We had requested a double room with ensuite bath and found that we had one double bed and a single one as well. The bedroom was nicely appointed with wardrobe, tv, hair dryer, tea making facilities and was very comfortable. The bathroom had only a shower, though that is fine for us, and was quite modern. There were many choices for breakfast and all were delicious. We did not use many of the inn's other facilities as we were gone for long hours with our friends but the house is very nice. There is off street parking as well as WiFi.
