My friends and I used to drink in this bar a lot one time, for one reason, and one reason only. That was the singer (Brian) who used to perform there, who has since got sense and moved on, shortly before the place shut down. It is a dark, awkwardly shaped bar that, at the time, was short on character, short on regulars, and short of fresh, cold beer. It got a crowd due to the singers 'groupies' coming to see him, which was always well worth it.
It reopened recently, and has had a personality transplant. It is now a gypsy style rocker bar, with bspoke old school furniture (tweed couches etc) and candles everywhere. We popped in recently for a look, and lost about three stone each in the process, the heat in the place is stifling.
One thing has not changed though - the on tap beer is still warm and flat. It felt great to be home.
There are better places in Dublin to drink than this.
