“Great staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2014

Recently stayed here for business. The hotel it is well located , there are bars and restaurants all within few minutes walk . Food& drink prices in the hotel bar are overpriced !!! However the best thing about this hotel is its staff, extremely and genuinely friendly..Tom and Simona in the bar were extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a clean hotel with friendly staff and great location.

Great hotel, friendly and helpful staff and so close to everything. Lovely room and the service was great. Lovely little pub with great food in the hotel and the spa has some lovely treatments. Definitely good value for money.

Good things first! Excellent reception staff, excellent bar staff, bar food very good quality, great location, reception area and restaurant very well decorated with good atmosphere. On the downside - heating not working in the room, in any event apparently heating controlled centrally and turned on only at certain times. No free wi fi - really in this day and age? Bar food seriously overpriced, paid €9 for a gin&tonic! Bar seriously needs updating.
In conclusion, would be slow to stay again, I was cold and would consider Bewleys, Ballsbridge more comfortable and better value. However, certainly give this hotel brownie points for free parking.

Room Tip: I've been told 2nd floor rooms are 'nicer' ! Don't get a Tower room, you'll walk...

Our stay at the Ballsbridge Hotel was fleeting, but we still left with the satisfaction of making a good choice for an overnight stay.

I dealt with 2-3 ladies at reception at various stages of our stay and all of them were very polite and helpful. The rooms were very well maintained, although the absence of a light in the centre of the room was rather baffling.

The buffet breakfast had plenty of choice and the food on offer certainly hit the spot. Also, it is an easy location to find and is ideally situated for anyone visiting the Aviva Stadium or RDS. Very happy overall with my stay and would gladly go back again.

My friend booked this hotel for 3 night stay over St Patrick's Day weekend. We were allocated a room on 6th floor next to the lift. Omg noise from the lift cables sounded likea train and made for a sleepless first night. We complained and were moved to another room on 7th floor away from the lift. I asked for and received complimentry breakfast for the rest of our stay. We decided to eat in in the bar. We had seen a menu in the lift & on the wall on our landing. In the bar that menu wasn't avaliable & that new menus had replaced what we had seen but they had not been replaced. Ok so we settledcfor fish & chips advertised on black board at €14.95 . When we tried to order this the barman said this was the old price & proceded to take the blackboard down & said it was €18.95. I asked for the manager & explained how unhappy we were that firstly the menus had not been updated in all areas of the hotel & secondly how disgraceful it was for the barman to remove the blackboard which stated a price then to be expected to pay the increase. I mentioned the trades description act and that it was surley against the law to do this. The manager offered us a glass of wine each and two fish & chip meals but pay for one at €18.95. We expecting a fillet of fish but got strips ok fish which were in my opinion dry and not flavoursome. On Tues 18th March we ate in bar before leaving at 4.30pm the menu advertised outside the bar advertised meals that were not available because the menu changed at 3pm. The waitress then changed the menus. We had sandwiches which we very nice. I would like to compliment two of the reception staff that were very helpful and friendly when we complained about our room. These were Margaret and a trainee called Elaine. Thank you Margaret and Elaine.
In my opinion the hotel is comfortable the rooms are hot though and in the summer this could be a problem, the hotel is clean and beds comfortable, the hot water in the bath/shower is very very hot! Overall all despite some problems which the staff dealt with I enjoyed my stay.

We stayed here for one night, the hotel looks nice, clean, staff friendly, room was big and spacious, bed was huge. The room had a iron and board which really needs to be replaced, when your going out for the night you really want to be able to iron your clothes properly!!!!!.

Big problem I had was we ate in the bar, I ordered 'coq au vin' at 24euro, OMG I got a chicken breast (small) with mash, 8 green beans and gravy. My partner got small steak, salad and 5 chunky chips for 25 euro. Drinks really overpriced too.

I wouldn't stay here again for that reason alone.
