I had steak on a stone-- basically a piece of rare steak you cook on the hit stone slab--- on your own! Think of it as a hibachi type experience but you are the cook. My family each had a different entree and all voted it delicious! Off the beaten path but worth it!

It was the first time I had being to Ashtons. My wife has being a few times with her friends. I was looking forward to a nice meal but was very disappointed. I ordered the paté for a starter and the blade of beef which was advertised as being cooked for 8 hours. The paté was quite nice but the beef which cost €17 was burned and completely dry. I complained to the waitress who said she would pass it on to the manager. The beef looked like it had being cooked for 20 mins at a very high temperature..and was completely tasteless...there was no way it was cooked for 8 hours. After no-one came over to us we left. I felt like I had not got any where near value for money and I will not be returning in the near future.

First visit here didn't turn out so great - had food poisoning from mushroom risotto. But then again, it was absolutely delicious :D After that decided to give it another try.... and then another, and then another... Absolutely amazing food and service is always great. I will be back soon.

Thank Anterita

This is a great dining experience for little money. In the past twelve months this pub has went from strength to strength.

This is the best place for lunch anywhere south of the city centre - if you pass this by you might as well keep going until you hit Cork. Lunch at Ashtons is better than average for several reasons. The food is conventional but perfectly done - hot main courses or salads. The staff are exceptionally good in the Irish sense - they remember your name and find you the table you'll like. There are views over the Dodder River, or there are areas almost the equivalent of a snug - modernised and upholstered properly. You can be in and out quickly or you can linger for the afternoon, depending on the sort of day you're having.
