“Five star ice-cream in Dublin”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

Murphy's is a wonderful family run business which has outlets around the country. We visited the Wicklow Street cafe at the end of June 2012 with our two young children. The staff were very happy to provide "tastes" of various flavours to help us make up our minds which ones to choose. They have amazing flavours like brown bread, sea salt and a really great valrhona double chocolate which I combined with the peanut butter flavour for a taste sensation. Make it a priority to visit Murphys when you are in Dublin.

“Best ice cream in Dublin”
Reviewed 9 June 2012 via mobile

My friends brought me to this place this week. Murphy's ice cream is divine. I had rum and raisin and honey, it was creamy and tasty without being too sweet or sugary.

I'm Italian and i'm quite fussy about ice cream, I won't be buying it anywhere else in Dublin. Must try.

“Excellent ice cream, coffee and more.”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

These guys know exactly what they are doing and deserve to be busy. This is a fun place, an inviting little oasis of colour and guilty pleasures that delivers on quality, atmosphere and service excellence. How might an ice-cream parlour survive in Ireland? Almost half the year it's a little too cold for most of us to be thinking of exacerbating the effects by tucking into ice cream. But as well as offering the best Irish ice cream, Murphys serve one of the best coffees available in the city centre. The range of teas is small but pleasing and the hot chocolate is of benchmark standard.

Just look for the sky blue and white-framed doorway half way up bustling Wicklow Street. Inside the sea blue colour theme continues but is complimented with redbrick back wall, white painted pillars, old wood panels and lively photographs. It's an animated and inviting ambiance that's rare in this neck of the woods and I always feel a smile coming on when I enter.
The space is compact but the high ceiling and clever use of colour makes it seem larger.

Immediately upon entering you are confronted with the wall of temptation in the form of the ice-cream counter. Of the array of flavours on offer I particularly like the unusual, the Sea Salt (made from boiled down sea water from Dingle no less), Brown Bread, and Balsamic. The ice cream is made from natural ingredients, without preservatives or colourings, including milk from rare breed Kerry cows and they even publish the names of the ice creams in Irish (Gaelic). They put thought into flavour combinations and you can mix and match varieties in cones and bowls. Their ice cream sundaes are decadent and glorious and they also offer other treats such as tarts, brownies and a fine banana split.

Another characteristic especially evident in Murphy's is the friendliness and of the staff and the professionalism of their interaction with customers. I've been a regular here for a couple of years and have noticed that though staff have come and gone the approach and warmth is maintained. It's as if this place just makes everybody happy, both clientele and those that work here. There is an attention to detail and consistent focus on good quality here. To my eyes they are virtually doing everything right. It has broad appeal, is very family friendly and yet feels a little like a surf side cafe that one might encounter in an attractive beach resort. Infectious I tell you, spoil yourself here regularly.
