“Bad food, bad service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2013

We chose this restaurant as the menu had dishes we thought we'd like to try... how wrong we were!

To be fair they were busy...but waiting 40 minutes for our meal was annoying, however if the food had been good it would be fine. Sadly it wasn't. The meat was not rare but raw, the potatoes were dry, rubbery and had obviously been microwaved, and the veg was undercooked. An uninspiring experience.

And to top it all off, there was no price list for the drinks...which meant that we ended up with a 7euro pint, that would've cost 4euro in the restaurant next door.

On the plus side, our waiter was a lovely young man, and very friendly.

“Tasty food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Went there several times. Really good for its simple traditional food. Chargrilled salmon and stew were amazing. Waiters are friendly, service is nice. Special offer for Early birds is good enough and fare for its price, but dishes and drinks not on offer are expensive. But actually liked that restaurant for its delicious food.

“No longer pub, not yet restaurant - find something else”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

This place pretends to be a restaurant, but does it in perverse way of charging restaurant prices for mediocre quality pub food. We were attracted to the place by the sign "traditional Irish food" as my colleague wanted to have a stew. I chosen pork belly.
Stew, my colleague said, was good. Pork belly however was overcooked and was primarily a piece of fat. Choice of beer is Heineken and Murphy's... Huh? In Ireland?
On my way to the toilet I noticed that there is a huge bowl sitting on the kitchen floor and the staff was stirring brown liquid in it with industrial grade mixer - I hope it was not food.

Despite other reviewers, service was not slow but rather expedient with food arriving about 10 minutes after it was ordered (the fact that place started to fill up after we arrived and we probably were the first in kitchen queue should have helped).

Bottom line - there is a lot of "Irish restaurants" in Temple bar area, so why wouldn't you pass this one?

“Misrepresentation = not impressed!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

While the food was standard (I had the fish pie, my friend had the pork belly), we were very disappointed by the false advertising for the 18.95€ menu. On a chalkboard outside, a menu was advertised for this price, which included a main course and a glass of wine. We chose this restaurant from the many options on the street because of this deal. When we sat inside, we asked to see the special menu and were informed by a waiter that this was the "early bird" menu which ended at 7 pm. Assuming that we had simply not read the menu in full and telling the waiter that he should take down this special menu after 7 pm so others won't get confused, we stayed and ordered off of the regular menu.

When we left the restaurant, we saw that the 18.95€ menu was still up and there was absolutely no mention of the menu ending at 7 pm. This false advertising is misleading and reason enough for me to suggest that others skip this restaurant and head somewhere more honest!
