McGettigans Cookhouse and Bar is a bit off the beaten track, but it is definitely worth the visit. There is an openness and freshness feel to McGettigans, that seems to be lost in a lot of the bars in Dublin, from the minute you walk into McGettigans, you feel welcomed. We decided to visit McGettigans as I had heard good reviews and we were not disappointed. We ordered drinks prior to our meal, which were brought to our table, where upon we asked our barman Keith, what would he recommend, which was the sirloin steak, we both ordered same, medium with the Jameson black pepper cream. They were cooked to perfection and served with triple cooked chips. We had Creme Brulee for desert, which cracked when the spoon hit it. Overall our first visit to McGettigans was one we both enjoyed and it won't be long till we return, to sample something else off the menu. McGettigans might be a bit away from the usual bars that Dublin has to offer, but it is one that I would recommend very highly.

We ate here on a Saturday night, quite late in the evening. We had chicken wings for starters and they are amazing, we could have had another serving of them - it wasn't a small portion they are just really nice! The two mains were lovely (pork on the specials board and the beef burger) and big portions.
I really like this place and it was also very nice for Friday evening drinks.

I had dinner there with a friend yesterday evening to try somewhere new. The service was very good but the food was disappointing. We both had the beef burger - there was little meat in the burger and it was nothing special. There was a good variety on the menu but it appears that they over complicate simple dishes.

The menu states 'starter & main-course' for €19.95 yet some of the starters and main-courses when added together are less than €19.95.

Unfortunately, I would be reluctant to go back for dinner - much better eateries in Dublin

We were staying at the North Star an although we didn't eat here, we did sample the cocktail menu. A really nice atmosphere with a warm friendly welcome.
