Just doing a few reviews from a trip and I thought I put in my local bar Walshs and up it came, but with only two reviews I thought I'd write one, this bar does one of the best pints of Guinness in the city, also recently has started doing a couple of craft beers on tap which are a welcome addition.

Service is always fast and friendly, toilets spotless - what's not to like

Short but decent wine list, standard pub offerings. Great mixed crowd of old school dubs, trendy hipsters and average passers by. Sit by the bar, in the snug or in one of numerous cubby holes dotted around the bar.

Walsh's has been around for as long as I can remember, and the exterior has changed very little over the years. However, the interior and the clientele, have changed dramatically. You'll find it on the corner of Brunswick Street and Stonetbatter, between the Liffey and the North Circular Rd.

A friend of mine, whose father loved this place, introduced me to Walsh's. At the time, it was men only, and the [brave] ladies, had to drink in the sitting room, as it is two houses converted into a bar. Years ago, they had a custom of giving cheese to their customers, who were a loyal bunch. A stranger would be spotted immediately.

I remember when a double-decker bus ran into the building, causing structural damage, and it had to remain closed for months, until it was safe to open again. The locals were livid. You should have heard what they were calling the bus driver!

But most of the old crowd are gone now, probably dead, and are replaced by generally a younger type of customer, who think it's trendy to frequent here, and it probably is. The bar has been extended, and the ladies are welcome. Great place to drop in for a few hours. Brings back memories....
