“Excellent Location but needs a Renovation”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Good: Location-the On/Off Bus stop was right around the corner. It is right across from St. Andeous church and Christchurch/Dublinia. Buzz-In front desk for security is great. Nice dining table set up, but barely any room to access it comfortably.

Bad: When we arrived to the room it was filled with flies. Everything about it was worn down. All the furniture was so worn down-the netting under the vinyl was exposed at every crease and crack. Thick dust covering certain things like thermostats and heating units.Large cobweb in bedroom, the dank smell of urine filled the bathroom, scary bathroom closet full of spider webs and large plastic tubs. 5" mattresses. Thin walls meant we could hear every voice in the hallway and it went on for hours one night until 3am. Voices carried from the outside street at "closing time". All doors are on springs, so unless you make DIY stoppers you are segregated in each room. Were given 2 tiny bottles of shampoo. Had to ask for a bar of soap. Bring your own supplies! No dishwasher-so bring/buy liquid soap. Buy clothing detergent too in Dublin to use there. Does NOT look like the stock photos.

A group consisting of 3 of us stayed here a couple of days ago for 2 nights and we honestly couldn't of asked for more, location is amazing! Great view! Staff were awesome and very helpful! Apartment itself was very clean, modern, plenty of towels and linens, everything was great I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a weekend away in Dublin with good location! Well done guys! :)

The apartments are smaller than in the photos and not as nice. They are ok and basic. The furniture is worn and there is no a/c or fans for when it gets hot. It is located right on a very busy street - all night long. Note that you need to use the booster to get the shower to put out water. Once we figured that out it was easier to shower. Most of the staff is nice and helpful. Good location. Very cramped.

Room Tip: Go fro a room that is not on the street and is high up.

Dear Guest

Thank you for posting a review on Tripadvisor. I am sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. The apartments are centrally located, therefore some city noise is to be expected. I apologise if the furniture in your apartment looked worn, we are in the process of upgrading our sofa beds in our Augustine and Christchurch hall apartments.

We are experiencing some very hot weather which is uncharacteristic for Dublin. We now have fans to offer guests when it is hot. I apologise they were not available when you stayed.

The water heats during the off peak hours of 2am and 6am, there will be a full tank of hot water available in the morning for showers. For additional hot water there is a boost button on the timer, this provides hot water in approx. 20/30 minutes after turning on. There are instruction in the guest folder and in the apartment.

I am delighted to hear you found the staff pleasant and helpful during your stay, we look forward to welcoming you back if you visit Dublin again.

Sincerely
Deirdre Treacy

As a family - 3 adults and 2 children - we shared a 3 bedroom apartment. The serviced apartments offered excellent, spacious, spotlessly clean accommodation allowing us each to enjoy our own privacy if and when required. Being located in the Christchurch area of Dublin this enabled us to enjoy many of the tourist attractions within walking distance - St. Patrick's Cathedral, Christchurch Cathedral, Trinity College etc. not forgetting the great shopping experience!
Perhaps we were just fortunate but I certainly could not find any faults and would certainly stay here again.
The staff were very polite and helpful.

Room Tip: Family accommodation very spacious.

The apartments were semi-clean, with friendly staff. In a nice location in terms of walking distance to several attractions in Dublin. However, it was very noisy, the beds were horrible--the worst I have ever encountered (even worse than all the European Hostels I have stayed in). They also did not have black out curtains. So if you visit in the summer with/without children and you are used to dark around 8-9pm, you won't get it. Our kids were waking up at 1am thinking it was morning and not wanting to go to bed at all because it was so bright all night. Parking is a pain, as you have to walk a "short distance" they will say. But it's a good 10min walk with hills, and not so easy with 3 small children, loads of stuff and rain on most days. The apartments were not well equipped with kitchen utensils, or towels. The clothes washer did not work properly, nor did the shower for that matter. I would look else where. These appear to be nice online...but that is as far as it goes.

Four of us (two couples) shared a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment. It was our second stay, and we had requested a quiet room (the rooms on the main street can be a bit noisy), which we were given. Very quiet, loved having the space to congregate in apart from the bedrooms. Awesome location, in one day we walked to Trinity College, then St. Stephen's Green, then St. Patrick's Cathedral, back to the apartment for lunch, then Christchurch Cathedral (right across the road) and finally to the Guinness Storehouse. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the apartment was very clean. Our only complaint, and it's minor, it the water supply and hot water heater are a little funky (hard to take back to back to back showers). Overall though a really good value for the price paid.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room not on the main road.

Our last destination was Dublin. Staycity looks beautiful online but in reality its a disaster, the rooms were smelling ,all the utensils were broken. The wifi did not work. Cleaning is done only one a week and everything is chargeable, a fresh towel would cost 4 euro. The toilet was out of order so we had to change our apartment.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. I am very sorry to hear you did not enjoy the apartment or you time with us.

We have a very dedicated, thorough housekeeping team and all apartments are cleaned to a very high standard and checked after servicing. I apologise if you found your room to be smelly. I have no report from the team of a smell in any of the apartments. The apartments are cleaned weekly for guest that are staying for a periods of 7 days or greater, we state that on the website. Additional cleaning can be requested at the time of booking or at reception after check-in. We do offer additional towels at a cost of €4, it's for a set (bath sheet, hand towel and bathmat).

If you wish to discuss your stay further, please do not hesitate to contact me at Deirdre@staycity.com

Yours sincerely
