We spent just over two hours on this walking tour and given the unseasonal good weather it was very well attended. What's good about this guide is that it is undertaken by history graduates. Our guide Donal Fallon was very knowledgeable describing events with humour and made everything really interesting. It was a great opportunity to understand Irish history as the sights are all within easy reach. If you are short of time I would say that this is a must see as there is something for everyone and it represents good value. We came away on a bit of a high feeling that bit more knowledgeable. Time well spent :-)

“Engaging telling of Dublin history”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

This was an excellent way to get an overview of Dublin history. My guide was Peter who was knowledgeable and presented information in an engaging and accessible manner. I'll say, the entire tour isn't limited to the sights themselves-- I felt each sight acted as a jumping off point for more in-depth discussion of Irish history. I loved it. Keep in mind that this isn't the silly hat Viking tour (not that I'm dogging the silly hat Viking tour) but a more measured telling of Irish history.

It was an extremely good way to kick off the Dublin visit. It provides a short history of Dublin while walking around the main attractions. Like many other European cities, Dublin's historical treasures are within a short walk of each other. Our guide Donal made the Dublin history come live. Will recommend to anyone with an interest in history

“Waste of time”
Reviewed 25 September 2013 via mobile

Too much talk!
not enough walk!
Very boring!
I wish we had covered a larger area during the talk. After we left the group we had a wonderful self guided tour and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the day.

Our tour consists of ten 5-10 minute presentations on Irish history & on the major sites of inner city Dublin. That's about 90 minutes, spread over 2 hours (i.e. 30 minutes of walking). While that may not be to everyone's taste the format of the tour is explained at the outset; tickets are sold half way in, giving customers plenty of time to 'sample the goods'. Consequently there was no good reason for this reviewer to have 'wasted his time'. This is a most unfair & suspicious review (& has been reported as such) which gives no specifics on the name of the guide or the time/date taken & by a reviewer with a suspiciously thin review record.

We had a great walking tour with an extremely knowledgeable, funny, pleasant and excellent guide: Peter Ballagh. Anecdotal and accurate, made history interesting and fun for all and could answer all our challenging questions. A great way to visit Dublin.
