Owner description: The pub, the poet and the pint. In Dublin, they seem to be inseparable. The public house is where writers sharpened their wit. This two hour walking tour is led by a team of professional actors who follow in the footsteps of James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde, Brendan Behan and many others. You will hear renditions of prose, verse, drama and song from Dublin's literary hall of fame. The evening is packed with entertainment and also includes a quiz with prizes for the winners. As one critic wrote: 'A highly enjoyable evening that gives you the pleasant notion of replacing brain cells as you drown them'. Check our website for further details and to book online.

The actors taking you on the tour are great and approachable. They take their time and you can meet some characters in the pubs visited. You will actually learn about a couple of authors

Thanks for your preview! The law has tightened a bit since you were last with us. Teens are welcome on the tour but they are not supposed to be in pubs after 9pm. We finish around 9.50pm so they won't be 'barred' from any of the performances. Publicans have become a little more concerned as they can be liable if youngsters are found on the premises later than 9pm.

It has not been a problem for us to date. We look forward to seeing you again in April. COLM

My husband was a bit perturbed about being dragged to this, as the group was predominantly female. That said, he did agree that the performers were rather entertaining. My only complaint was that we kept crowding into pubs where there wasn't really sufficient room for us, and once we found seats and got our beer, we were whisked off to the next pub. I know that's sort of the point, and I admit my review may be slightly tainted because I hadn't had dinner and was hungry - you definitely don't have time to order food anywhere and eat it!

Hi and thanks for your comments. You can order some food at the second pub and our customers often share a plate - the portions are large. We finish just before 10pm and we recommend places to eat afterwards. It is a tour of the pubs and a set of performances so we cannot stop the tour for a a long food break. It would take away the pace of the whole evening.

Yes the pubs are busy on a Saturday but they are often dead quiet on other evenings. Customers sometimes prefer the former, sometimes the latter. It's hard to keep everyone happy! But we'll keep trying. Again, thank you for your feedback and I hope you enjoyed Dublin
