Owner description: The pub, the poet and the pint. In Dublin, they seem to be inseparable. The public house is where writers sharpened their wit. This two hour walking tour is led by a team of professional actors who follow in the footsteps of James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde, Brendan Behan and many others. You will hear renditions of prose, verse, drama and song from Dublin's literary hall of fame. The evening is packed with entertainment and also includes a quiz with prizes for the winners. As one critic wrote: 'A highly enjoyable evening that gives you the pleasant notion of replacing brain cells as you drown them'. Check our website for further details and to book online.

“Tremendous fun!”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

I signed up for this tour after a fellow traveller had recommended it, with little expectation. However, it was a total delight. The tour leaders were hilarious, smart, fun to interact with, and brought the history of Dublin alive. They mixed storytelling with history with song with theatre to excellent effect. Of course, it was helped by the tasty beer at each pub stop. Highly recommended.

“A literally "okay" time!”
Reviewed 25 May 2014 via mobile

Although this gathering of tourists going from pub to pub is naturally a good thing (how could it not be?), there wasn't much literary content or history to this. Various famous writers from Dublin's history were not even mentioned. While the actors/leaders were quite personable, I was looking for more "meat".

Hello. We perform and give biographical detail for about eight writers on the tour. From Joyce, Beckett, Oscar Wilde through to Eavan Boland, Michael Longley and finishing with Brendan Behan. We don't talk about Shaw because he hated the pub scene. No wonder he described Joyce's Ulysses as 'a revolting record of a disgusting phase of civilization'. Yeats was similarly pub shy. He did drink a sherry in Toners snug but that was about it. We deal with the pub, the poet and the pint. We cannot feature everyone but the ones above are kinda famous.

Why he wants to mislead the readers of Tripadvisor is beyond me. We talk about lots of writers on the tour and bring you to some of their spiritual homes. I hope you can join us. COLM

“Not our usual but it was great!”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

Only came on the tour because our Aussie friends suggested it and definitely no regrets. Well worth the money, we saw 4 pubs and some other sights with a lighthearted literary commentary. You learn something every day!

“Must Do!”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

Very funny, even if you're not into literature. Gives a little history of Dublin. Great fun! Only about 2-3 hours, not too much walking. And visit 4 pubs.

“A good night out”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

This is a fun way to get acclimatized to the city. The actors do a great job and provide a few laughs, the walk through part of town and a few pub stops make for a pleasant night out and the chance to get your bearings.
