“One Direction May 2014”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

Could not recommend this hotel enough!!! The location is excellent for concerts, we stayed as a family of four (2 adults and 2 children) and went to a 1D concert on Croke Park - walking distance to Croke and the hotel staff couldn't do enough to help with directions, instructions, even providing umbrellas!!! Have stayed here in the past for a concert in the O2 which again is walking distance. Every member of staff is helpful, friendly and extremely well mannered. Especially would like to thank Martin, the duty manager, who couldn't do enough for us during our stay. The pool and fitness suite is spotless clean, as is the whole hotel. The food is great and such a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. Cant wait to go back again in July!!!!! Thank you, from the Campbells!

I stayed at the Maldron in May 2014. The check-in experience was good because I arrived late in the evening and the reception was not crowded. However, the reception tends to get very very crowded and the seating is too little so you'll probably end up standing while you wait. The reception staff at the time of my check out were very grumpy. They have a habit of staring at their computer screens and pretending they don't see you standing at the counter - so expect a wait of at least 2-3 minutes until they turn their attention to you. If it weren't for the attitude of the staff, I'd give the hotel 4 out of 5

The room service was good but the food was 'average'. The room service staff were very cheerful though. Complete exception from the rest!

The room was nice and the balcony was great to have. The room was kept clean but the bathroom didn't have any supplies - which is something I would expect from a hotel such as the Maldron.

I went with 2 friends and we all shared a room. The room was a good size, clean, comfortable but no bells and whistles. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel, there is stuff there but not great. We asked for three single beds and got a 'double twin' and a single. A 'double twin' is a standard double bed in case you are wondering. On the quayside the location is fine, about 20 mins walk to the centre of town. Breakfast is adequate. It's a busy, budget tourist hotel so great as a base to visit from but not to hang around and relax in.

Dear LucyCP,

Thank you for commenting on your recent stay at Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane. Unfortunately we do not have rooms that will cater for three adults in separate beds but do have the availability of connecting rooms. I am sorry this was not made clear upon booking. Indeed we are a very busy hotel within a 15minute walk to O’Connell, Grafton Street and temple bar. I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations in regards to location and toiletries and I sincerely thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Warmest Regards,
Conor O’Kane,
General Manager.

I'd never been to Dublin before or had any idea of where is the best place to stay. A review of hotels came up with this one.

It's a little out of town but only in terms of either a 10 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride.

Room was great. Bed excellent.

Rooms really well sound proofed. We had building works opposite and we couldn't hear them. Also could not hear the people in the room either side (which you can quite often in many hotels)

Bar was nice to drop into for a quick drink before heading into town.

Staff all very helpful.

If I go back to Dublin again, this hotel will be my first choice.

Stayed for a couple of nights whilst on business In Dublin. Service from every customer facing member of staff excellent. This is a very busy and popular American visitor hotel, including aircrew, so be warned, during breakfast and busy times in reception it is Very busy.
However didn't detract from what you need in a good hotel, clean room, appreciative service from staff who want to help and make your stay pleasant.
Would use again. But don't expect a boutique hotel experience!
