City travelodges can be hit and miss, but this one was well up to the mark. Recently refurbished, the rooms were large and nicely done, with clean bathrooms. The bathrooms could do with retailing in a more contemporary style but they were a good size and very satisfactory. The hotel has a relationship with a new retro cafe next door (doorway through from reception) which does gourmet breakfasts at a good price or included in the package. Some of the dishes were a little adventurous for half past seven in the morning - I could not face the spinach and eggs - but the staff were happy to supply a mountain of extremely nice scrambled eggs on toast that I requested instead. The location is excellent; St Stephens green shopping centre is next door (and provides ample car parking for overnight) and William Street South and the little roads off it are a stroll away with dozens of cool restaurants and bars. Grafton Street is also just five minutes walk. I'd definitely stay here again the next time I'm over in Dublin.
