A smart property within 10 to 15 minutes walk from the Temple Bar area.

Helpful staff, clean rooms, reasonable facilities.

The Gasworks is a handy restaurant/pub adjoining serving oub food with a selection of beers & wines.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Grand Canal. We got a great
"4 nts for the price of 3" rate on Hotels.com, and averaged $111/nt total including taxes. We arrived very early one morning, and found they had our room waiting for us! Unfortunately a mistake had been made *on my part* and I had booked a twin room. Not good for an anniversary trip!

The staff was pleasant and helpful, but they were fully booked for the night and we were stuck with the twin room. However, they offered to move us the next morning and did so the next day while we were out for the day, for no extra charge. The new room was fine, and as previously posted, VERY quiet for a main street. The bed was comfy enough (a little hard for my taste, but most Irish beds are...)
and the place was spotlessly clean, with a decent array of TV channels and TV internet access for a not-too-bad fee.

Location was terrific. A walk to Temple Bar does take about 20 minutes, but Merrion Square, St. Stephen's Green, and Grafton Street are all a 10 minute walk. The hop-on/off bus can be picked up at Merrion Square.

Breakfast, however, was just OK at best. Go elsewhere for that.

Very good hotel a bit out from the dead center of town, so you don't get the noise that you would find in other spots. We stayed here three nights (May 12-14) and were pleased, except for some problems we had when we arrived with one of the girls on the front desk The hotel is well kept and the rooms were fine. The rooms did get stuffy at night if you didn't have your window open, but street noise died down early and the room cooled off.

The breakfast was very good, even if you got the continental breakfast, which we did. Service was friendly as well. The Gasworks has a great staff and very good food. Great for American tastes trying to work their way into the Irish way of eating. Would recommend it highly.

Overall, a great stay at a great hotel!

Though located on a busy street, this modern (built in 2004) hotel has good soundproofing! The hotel features wireless and TV-based internet access, which is nice. The bathrooms actually have bathtubs, which is also nice! The hotel is located about a half-hour's walk from the Temple Bar section of Dublin, but is only about fifteen minutes' walk from Merrion Square. Breakfast is expensive, and so (of course) is the attached restaurant. Fortunately, there are two pubs and a soup and sandwich place just east of the Grand Canal Hotel.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and it was excellent. Great transport links - minutes from the DART and a comfortable 15 / 20 minute walk to the city centre. Staff were excellent and allowed us to book in early.
Room was very clean - very modern with everything we needed. Water pressure in shower could have been better but maybe I'm just being picky now.
Gasworks Bar was fine for a drop of the black stuff although there are plenty other bars nearby.
Recommendation for a restaurant - just around the corner - the Schoolhouse - absolutely wonderful - could not be faulted.
My only problem during my stay was that the rate I booked did not inlclude breakfast. My fault - I should have checked. Inclusive rate would have been better.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for his 21st birthday the weekend just gone, and I have to say this hotel was brilliant. Granted, i haven't stayed in many hotels in my lifetime- but we had an amazing time. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and the bathroom/wet room was gorgeous. Everything felt very new. Staff were very helpful at the front desk, they even let us leave our luggage there for the day when we checked out, so we could do some more sightseeing.
It is about a 15-20 minute walk from town (easy journey) and just around the corner from the Aircoach stop (bus to and from airport.) Breakfast cost extra because we booked through Expedia, about 13 euros each, each morning. It was a good spread, very good food, but a tad expensive maybe. However it is very convenient and you won't get breakfast much cheaper anywhere else. The Gasworks bar next door is very nice, good music and good food and drink- we had most of out meals there. All in all we had a brilliant time, i would recommend this place to anyone as long as you are willing to walk into town.

This was a lovely hotel
My 3 friends and I stayed here for my hen party weekend on the 28/04/2007. Rooms were spacious and clean with all facilities .Staff were friendly and even let us check in early as we had an early flight. The hotel is situated about 15 mins walk from the town centre. Although we found the walk no problem we did return from our night out via taxi which cost us about 10 euros. Did use a bus to get from airport which I wouldn’t recommend as they changed drivers halfway into the journey and the new driver completely forgot to tell us when our stop was! This led to us vacating the bus and catching a taxi to the hotel .Didn‘t use the buses after this as it kind of put us off. Taxi to the airport from the hotel was 33 Euros.
All in all had a great weekend recommend the Arlington bar right in the heart of the town for a great night out, typically Irish fare and show with Irish music and dancers. Will definitely return
