“OUR PADDY'S PILGRIMAGE 2012”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

on arrival the hotel looked good, it was easy to find and only a short distance from public transport. the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. the breakfast room was wonderful - i sat and watched the world go by while eating a very good breakfast. the rooms were large and well appointed, the curtains blocked out the light to ensure a good lie in. the beds were absolutely divine.( could have done with a few more channels on the tv though) the bathroom was large - the shower was nice but even on the coldest setting was extremely hot, good for us adults but something to be aware of if you are taking small children.the rooms were extremely clean and well looked after and supplied. the bar was lovely as well. by far one of the best hotels i've stayed in. will DEFFINATELY be booking it again for next year.

The hotel is in a good location, far enough away from the city centre but within a few minutes’ walk to the bottom of Grafton Street. There are an abundance of cabs and buses nearby. The Airbus (inc free Wi-Fi) from Dublin Airport was €8 each which is very reasonable and stops at Lower Leeson Street. A cab is about €25 to €30 depending in the time of the day and traffic.

The hotel staff were very pleasant and always welcoming. We had one meal there as we were tired and that was of reasonable value and was very well prepared and tasty.

The first room we had was on the 6th floor at the front but suffered from traffic noise. If you are used to living in a city it may not bother you but coming from the country where there is no noise at night it takes getting used to. We moved to the 2nd floor at the back which was far quieter. The only noise you could here were guests coming back to their rooms at all hours, banging doors and talking in the corridor loudly, there is really no need for it but you have to expect it in any hotel I guess, some people have no consideration which is a shame.

The room on the 2nd floor was a reasonable size and had all the usual amenities. The bathroom had some black mould here and there which could easily be removed with some bleach or something stronger if they wanted to. That was the only issue we had. The bed was very comfortable and pillows were nice and soft just how we like them.

Wi-Fi is chargeable but look in the hotel guide in the room as some sited are free i.e. visitdublin.com and ryanair.com. Throughout the city I found a lot of WiFi hotspots so if you want to save money then go to a pub or bar and you will usually find one.

Would we go there again? maybe as it was a reasonable price for a city centre hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main hotel out the back if noise is an issue for you.

Just an average hotel really. Staff were not overly friendly or helpful. Room was adequate but not the cleanest i've ever been in. The hotel ran out of hot water around 715pm so we had to have a cold shower - reception said the boiler would be 30 mins to heat the water up again. Location is very good though and probably the only reason I would consider staying here again.

Stayed here overnight, hotel was pretty disappointing. I had a faulty light in my room that wouldn't turn off, and the shower was broken and stuck on scalding hot.

On the positive side it's in a pretty good location and the staff are nice and friendly.

I wouldn't stay here again though.

Room Tip: Avoid room 1124 at all costs.

We stayed here just one night, pity we could`nt stay the 2nd night. The location is excellent, just a gentle 5min stroll through beautiful St Stephens Green to the top of Grafton St. The hotel also have special deals for parking in the nearby Stephens green center. As for the hotel itself, checking in was a breeze, the room was beautiful, quite large, soundproof, huge comfortable bed and had every facility required. The bar is lovely and comfortable and one is not overcharged for drinks so we had several. Breakfast was good, (bacon very dry) but a good breakfast just the same. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be looking for a room there when back in Dublin.

We stayed 2 nights at the O'Callaghan on Stephen's Green.
he hotel is in a fantastic location, just minutes walk from Grafton Street, Trinity College and Temple Bar.
The room we had was impeccably clean and very spacious. All the facilities expected of a four start hotel. We did not eat at the hotel but this was simply due to the fantastic variety of pubs and restaurants the city has to offer.
Only negative aspect was the fact that normally free facilities like internet access were chargeable and there are one or two areas of the hotel that could do with a bit of a touch up.
Overall, the hotel was fairly good value for money and I had no cause for complaint.
Definitely the best thing going for it is it's location.

We recently stayed once again at O'Callaghan Stephen's Green Hotel, and because of the kind consideration of the management, will definitely return. On our first visit, we had a few concerns, and were delighted that the management staff took our opinions to heart. We were offered an upgrade upon return, and I must say, I think we had the loveliest room in the hotel. The breakfast buffet gave you both the option of healthy and hearty choices; it was a delicious start to each morning. Our sincere thanks to both Frankie and Sally for everything they did to make our return a fabulous one. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the front of the hotel.
