“Don't stay if you're a non-smoker!”
Reviewed 30 April 2006

We stayed at the Hazelbrook House for one night. The other reviews are correct about all of the stairs, but one trip up with your luggage and and down again when you leave, and it's not a big deal. The rooms are tiny and a little run-down looking. The thing that really turned us off was the musty cigarette smoke smell in the room. I asked the man at the desk if there were any non-smoking rooms. He said there are, but people still smoke in them. Being a non-smoker, sleeping in smoke-smelling sheets just made us feel dirty. The positive thing about this B&B is that the people at the front desk were always very friendly.

We had reservations to stay at the Hazelbrook House for one more night about a week later on a stop-over before we flew home, but decided to try a different place. We stayed at The Kingfisher on Parnell. It was only a tiny bit better. If we go to Dublin again, we will try to find a place that is more hotel-like and spend a little more money for some nicer accomodations.

Hazelbrook House is maybe best for someone who is on a budget, doesn't mind cigarette smoke and doesn't mind walking up some stairs.

I stay for 3 nights... its a good hotel with good rooms.. I stayed in room 8.. which the only disadvantage is 45 steps up with luggage from reception and 60 steps up from Bfast room..

Apart from that if u not bothered with small rooms its great.
You go a TV and A great shower room and all is very clean.
We had a Car hired and thank god this hotel offered free parking cause as it is very central u cannot park anywhere except 8pm-8am on public roads..

we paid 90euros for sat 70 euros for sunday and 70 for monday all including bfast..

My husband arrived in Dublin on our honeymoon late Saturday afternoon on September 24th, 2005 and had to find the Hazelbrook House B&B and return our car rental all within 30 minutes. Oh, and there was some sort of protest march going on. We finally checked in and after winding up the 6 different sets of stairways, made it to the most spacious room of our whole honeymoon trip. The Hazelbrook House is situated right near the O'Conner Street Spire and we had enough energy to walk a few blocks and find a nice restaurant to have dinner before we fell into bed exhausted.
The staff was friendly and accommodating as we had to hire a taxi to take us to the airport the next morning around 4AM! They guy at the front desk was friendly though and wished us well.
If you are a budget traveler, the Hazelbrook House is definately worth the Euros. I just wish my husband and I had had more time to spend in Dublin. Cheers!
