The Long Hall

Attraction details
Owner description: Established in 1766 this shrine to antiquity is one of Dublin's oldest, most beautiful and best loved pubs, abundant in traditional charm and exuding genuine Victorian originality, the interior dates from 1881. The title The Long Hall is derived from Dublin publore as a consequence of the long narrow hallway snug, that ran parallel to the back bar. The pub is the product of splendid Victorian design symmetry in which the sum of its parts including elaborate gold leaf enhancements, meticulous handcrafted wood carvings, beveled and ornate glass all come together to create one of the iconic and leading lights of 20th century Dublin publife. Over decades, politicians, playwrights and potwallopers have imbibed here side by side. Attentive Bartenders, a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere await you. Renowned for great Guinness. Open Daily from 12.30pm.

“Good Victorian pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

This pub not too far from Dublin Castle is a great Victorian pub apparently little changed since it was renovated over 130 years ago. It is understood that a lot of the revolutionary Fenian uprising in 1867 was planned here. Much later the legendary Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy filmed part of the video to 'Old Town' here in 1982.
Oh...and one other thing - the pub serves a decent pint of Guinness!

“Proper old-school Dublin pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

This beautiful old pub is a must-see for anyone visiting Dublin, avoid TempleBar and its tacky fake oirishness, this is a short stroll away, a lovely place to rest your shopping bags and take some refreshment. Original Victorian features and a long window with seats for watching the world go by with a perfect pint of Guinness. Blissfully peaceful with only the hubbub of everyone's chat and NO PIPED MUSIC!!! A rare gem, long may it survive.(Also helpfully opposite George's Arcade, another must-see) Note, I have seen stag and hen parties asked to leave, to everyone's relief, it is not for the likes of you, you'd much prefer Templebar!

“Do not miss the pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

Stopped into this pub in mid-June 2014 for a quick pint and to gawk at the facility. An absolute classic Irish Victorian pub. If you're in Dublin, you have to see this pub!! Ask for Marcus and have him tell you the pubs history. He's a wonderful fellow and is passionate about preserving what The Long Hall is and stands for.

Take a few minutes and walk around the pub to appreciate all the detail and classic Victorian appointments that make this pub unique.

We were told by one of the locals that if you are in Dublin you must go to The Long Hall pub...and we weren't disappointed. This is a great example of a Victorian pub with lots of charm.
