“Great Location and a Clean Room.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2012

We arrived in Dublin on a Friday via bus 747 from the airport. The Glenn guest house is directly across the street from the bus stop. After trying to check in at our usual B & B only to discover that the only room they had available had a broken bed frame, we had no alternative but to find another place. The Glenn guest house offered us a double room ensuite with a balcony for 60 euros. The room was out the back door past the laundry into another building which had an elevator to the 4th floor. The room was large by European standards with a new updated modern bath. There was a large flatscreen TV mounted to the wall but we can't comment on it as we never turned it on. There was also a tea kettle w/cups in the room which was very nice. No hair dryer was in the room, but when we asked, we were able to pick one up right away from the front lobby. The shower was nice with plenty of hot water and having a balcony was nice to let in the cool summer breeze as it was quite warm when we were there. The bed was a double and was comfortable enough. There was also FREE wifi in the lobby and if you needed a computer, one was available for a fee right outside the lobby area. Next morning we had to catch an early flight and were going to be leaving before breakfast was being served. The gentlemen at the front desk offered us a continental breakfast the next morning if we liked. We had hot tea, toast, cereal, and juice before we left the following morning....which we felt was a very nice gesture, Thank you! Our only complaint about the Glenn guest house was the incredibally loud noises from the plumbing everytime you flushed the toilet. It was as if there was air in the pipes as there would be a loud vibrating noise that would last for several mins.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the back building, there is no street noise.

Glen Guesthaus has a great location near downtown Dublin. Many attractions, restaurants and shopping areas are located just within a walking distance of the Gesthaus. It is also very easily reached from the airport.

The building itself is quite modest, but the rooms are tidy and quite spacious with own bathrooms. Also 24 hour reception service, friendly receptionists and breakfast are something extra if compared to other guesthouses.

Little negative things are wall-to-wall carpets and quite noicy Lower Gardiner Street, if you have a street view in your room.

Room Tip: Don't use a room with a street view.

My husband and I just had a nice weekend in Dublin, we chose this guesthouse for price and good reviews. Actually the room was very nice and spacious, both room and bathroom were very clean. Location amazing, close to bus station and shopping district, walking distance to Temple Bar. Downsides: we had a room facing the street, so noise all night! the window was so old that could not keep the noise out. The structure is very old and there is no isolation at all, when the guys in room above us were walking you could feel the walls and the windows literally trembling! No elevator, so be prepared to do some stairs. Breakfast was not really worth, no choice for continental breakfast and the Irish one was really average (bins from tin).
If it was cheaper I would stay again, but not 70euro per night!

Room Tip: Ask for room that face the garden if possible.

The room was clean, shower was great. But no where to put anything. Great for the bus to and from airport and walking distance from main attractions. The breakfast was rather over sold. Not quite as advertised. A good window cleaner would make a fortune. For location would recommend.

Stayed there for three nights.
Noise was not a problem. Asked for a quite room in advance and got one.
Booked through booking.com for € 38 per night.
Right in city centre.
Polite, helpful management.
Small rooms with TV...but only went to sleep there at night.
Will I come here again...Yes.
People who moan should go for hotels near The Point which charge 150-200 per night.
This is a budget hotel and a decent one at that.

Room Tip: Ask in advance for a quite room in the 2nd building at the back.

We have been welcomed by a very kind woman at the reception, she was the only positive thing during our stay.
Sound-proof room? not at all! High Definition Audio will be much more appropriate to say , you will much appreciate your tv when you next door neighbor will spend their nights having arguments all night long.
And the smell of he room made our sleep (together with the noisy neighbors) impossible!
The breakfast is surprisingly good.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2011

Been working in Dublin for the last few months, and while living in a house with 4 co-workers, I decided to stay at a hotel when my girlfriend came over for a visit from Oslo.

Read a few "not so good" reviews about The Glenn Guesthouse, but as almost everything else in town was booked this weekend due to a couple of Take That concerts, we ended up here, and got an outrageous price from booking.com.

Got a room in the building in the backyard belonging to the hotel, so didn't hear anything from the street or from any of the neighbors. The room itself was quite typical, with a large nice bed, water boiler with coffee and tea, a small TV etc. The bathroom was perfectly all right. and the room had a pretty large balcony. Unfortunately without any balcony furniture.

The staff was as helpful as one could ask for, and they even took €100 euro of the bill when i checked in, as they had gotten a cancellation of another room. So the price went from outrageous, to just pretty expensive.

We didn't get to test the breakfast, as we slept in almost every morning. This place is pretty close to a handful of really good bars :)

Room Tip: Ask for room in the newer building in the backyard.
