This river trip takes roughly 45 minutes and is interesting from start to finish. The guide was full of historical information with good humour. Well worth the money at 12 euros per person.

We have just returned from our annual trip to Dublin. This time we took our 2 Grandchildren, to experience that all holidays do not have to be all sun,sea and sand. Whilst there we took a trip on the River Liffey Cruise with the children (30 euros for a family of 4), which lasts for about 45 minutes.
We and our 2 young ones enjoyed the experience very much. The crew were very friendly and to our grandsons surprize, the crewmember who welcomed us aboard jokingly asked him if he had his passport ready for inspection in order to board the boat. Our grandson turned and looked at us for "advice" and the crewman then said I am only joking.
Once everyone was seated and the safety procedures had been explained, we proceded on a westerly course down the Liffey, passing under the Half Penny Bridge and the history lessons began, (I am not going into detail as this may spoil the experience of other visitors who choose to take the river cruise). After turning the boat 180 degrees, we set of in an easterley direction towards the Port of Dublin, passing under O'Connell Bridge, the Harp Bridge and several other bridges. The "2nd Officer" explained the history of all the different points/buildings of interest, giving a comedy commentry throughout the cruise and being very informative. Our grandson (who is 10 years old), especially found the river cruise interesting enough to tell his parents all about the history along the Liffey when he got home.
As I previously mentioned, I do not want to give too much away but overall I would not hesitate to recommed this river cruise to all who visit Dublin, no matter what age - even the disabled are catered for when boarding/disembarking the boat. Absolutely great value for money and the crew add that personal touch that is a symbol of the Irish people.

The guy is very funny and explains also a few things missing on my guide. I found it interesting and entertaining. Weather was lovely, this probably helped a bit.
Totally worth.
