Owner description: A warm welcome always awaits in The Cellar Bar at The Merrion hotel. Located in the original 18th Century wine vaults, with its bare bricked walls and vaulted ceilings, The Cellar Bar is an intrinsic part of Dublin's vibrant social scene. The Cellar Bar features fifty carefully selected wines, available by the glass. Furthermore, to complement the extensive wine offering, Executive Chef, Ed Cooney, has devised mouthwatering lunch and evening menus prepared simply with plenty of Merrion style, a perfect choice when dining in Dublin.

“Great cocktails”
Reviewed 14 December 2012

Visited for an after-work drink before hitting a restaurant. Great atmosphere, a buzzing crowd, the cocktails were fantastic and the staff very helpful.

“Don't be barred fron the Cellar!”
Reviewed 2 November 2012

Popped in with my wife for a pint - and stayed to eat. Excellent service (part of a 5 star hotel!) and great food. Staff very friendly but polite. Not cheap but then I didn't want a Big Mac!
Definately go back when next in City centre.

“Dublin's classiest bar -by far!!”
Reviewed 18 October 2012

I love everything about this upmarket bar, which has retained so much of the character and charm of the 18th century Georgian building that it's located in. For this reason, we come back again and again. It has atmosphere, is tastefully furnished, and very aesthetically pleasing. Staff are friendly & warm, and are smartly dressed in French bistro-style uniforms. It is very civilised, and is the kind of place where you would take a loved one for a quiet after-drink.

As for other reviewers: don't expect a "cheap" drink here -there are many "cheap" pubs in Dublin that cater for this market -namely the Sky Sports market. Though on that point, I agree with the reviewer who thinks thinks that the televisions are out of place. Get rid of them!!

“Fantastic space...why the televisions?!”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

We called in at the Cellar Bar for a special occasion pre-dinner drink. The vaulted, stone space is fantastic, and there was a real sense of smartness and luxury as you walk in...and then we saw the two big screens showing sport at each end of the bar. Baffling, and completely out of place.

“What a rip off”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

Popped in whilst passing for a drink and had one pint of larger and a small bottle of cider for my partner which came to 11.60 euro,s. I do understand that all the alcohol prices over the bar are inflated in Dublin for no apparent reason, but this is the worst rip off i had encountered on my 1st and last trip to Dublin. The rest of the UK seem to think we are in recession so why does Dublin think we all have money to burn?
