Service was a little starchy, food underwhelmed - king crab with shaved pineapple too sweet a combination - lamb saddle not rested long enough. Maybe just an off-night.

I had the pre theatre menu in Chapter One. The whole experience was nothing special. We were rushed to our table, rushed to place wine order and rushed to place food order. The food was average. Didnt enjoy the salmon starter or chocolate mousse dessert. The couple at the table next to us had to send back their main course as it was under cooked, something I was not expecting to see at a Michelin Star restaurant. Will not be revisiting here there are nicer Michelin star restaurants in Dublin- where the service and the food are far superior to Chapter One.

My wife and I went here for a lunch. We were very excited to try one of Ireland's Michelin star restaurant. We had a five course set lunch menu. The beginning was wonderful with the fresh home made breads and with the Italian rose wine. To start, the curred salmon served as a chunk of fish instead to be sliced as thin as possible. Yuzu jely taste as a detergent. Feta mousse was great but you can eat much better tomatoes in South Europe. Rabbit terrine tasteless, radish salad was plain and chewi., but the rabbit liver parfait -just perfect. Dover sole was over cooked, the dish wasn't in balance. Duck breast was perfectly cooked unfortunatelly was tasteless, the roast carrote was burnt, I dont get the spinach and the lemon pure messed up the whole dish-too sour. Strawberries were unripe on a dessert and with the elderflower foam felt like spoiled dish-no sweetness at all. The food presentation was average. By the way the macarons was delicious. Great service. The atmosphere was not as should be , lack of music. Sorry, but we expected much better food.

We ate here recently for a special occasion. The staff were so helpful particularly with the wine list and pairing wines with courses. A pre dinner drink is highly recommend. All four courses of the meal were just incredible (including the breads), every ounce of flavour is extracted from every ingredient on the plate. The crab salad was just amazing and the pigs tail too. The dark chocolate petite fours just melt in your mouth and were so so tasty. I would highly recommend chapter one for dinner. It really really is a special place. An Irish coffee is a must too.

Every visit to Chapter One is something to be anticipated, like the next crime thriller from your favourite author! There are familiar, wonderful, characters and an excellent story line (menu!) featuring the best seasonal ingredients, as well as an elemental creativity. Our most recent visit was for a pre-theatre supper before visiting the nearby Gate Theatre. A 5.45pm start ensures adequate time to enjoy a heavenly three course meal and wine, before heading to the theatre. At €36.50 per person, the pre-theatre menu definitely "steals the show" in Dublin!
