“Loved it!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

Visited here last week for a family meal. We had the best day/night, from the food to the staff to the atmosphere we had a ball. Our waitress was great nothing was a problem and she had lots of time for the kids. Hubby got a Rib Eye Steak on the bone & it was delish!!! We will be back

“This Cafe certainly does not lack Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

I visited this Cafe for the first time with a friend of mine whose son was was treating us as he had just started his first paid employment. Little did we know but about 8/10 of his friends, all male in their mid twenties also turned up to meet us for dinner. So the scene was set from the off. I had often passed by this Cafe in the past, but never eaten there as i felt it was just another "Hard Rock" Cafe type eaterie so i just never bothered with it.
On entering into the cafe, we were met by a very nice gentleman who was the security person for the evening. He had to be the most pleasant security person i have ever come across. The first thing you notice is the massive Harley Davidson Bike on your right as you walk in, (some great photos were taken here later in the evening) and there is a little reception area further in on your left. This area between the entrance and reception is quite tight for space with a lot of activity by guests and staff alike coming and going. We were shown to a window table which had been reserved and was decorated with balloons and such like. Looking around I noticed that the interior was split level and it looked like there were a lot of "Snugs" - small private areas - each table it appeared had privacy and were not situated too close to another which was great to see. The Cafe looks very big and spacious with the tables covered in oilcloths of different colours but with the same Leopard print on them. each area was sectioned off with steel/iron railings which were made using parts of old bicycles which was interesting to see. There was the odd Harley hanging or positioned about the Cafe. I believe that the owner has a passion for Harley Davidsons and is still able to pedal one too ! The customers here on the night I visited ranged in age from early 20's to 50 somethings. There were Hen and Stag parties going on and there were couples also enjoying themselves. So, I gather this place caters for everyone and every occasion. There was a resident DJ who was giving us a great time with his marvellous selection of music from every era. The Staff were very well presented in black T's and Trousers. They were very well informed about their menu and very accomodating where different requests were made. Nothing was a problem for them. The staff you could see genuinely enjoyed working here. The Food Menu caters for everyone and was not overly priced for a city center Eaterie. Portions were good and the food tasted good too. Presentation of most food which came to the table was above standard however i noticed that anyone who ordered burgers with chips, their plates could have been presented better. The Cutlery was canteen type but i can understand why. The Dessert which myself and the son's mother had was an ice cream sundae of sorts with a fresh banana which was presented with some theatrics but tasted delish ! Meanwhile, throughout our meal, people were up dancing and interacting with other customers in a friendly fashion which lended to everyone getting involved in having a great time here. The toilets, i did not visit myself but my friend did and her only comments were that she expected the theme to be carried through which it was not surprisingly. The waiting area was spotless in there whilst the actual cubicles were as clean as could be expected she thought for a busy Saturday night. I understand weekend nights are particularly busy at this Cafe compared to week days which are also busy but just not as. The Bar here stays open late and they serve amazing cocktails too. Overall, I would recommend Thunder Road Cafe, This cafe is a real "Pick me Up" - a great place to cheer you up after a long day. If you are looking for reasonable food at a reasonable price, served by good humoured, young professional staff and a great DJ then this place is well worth the visit.
