I was so looking forward to staying in this hotel as it was recommended to me. Although my first impression was good when I walked into the ground floor bar I'm afraid that my excitement waned when I went up to the bedroom. The corridor leading to the bedrooms was extremely dark and the bedroom itself was equally gloomy. Note ladies, there are no feminine touches in the bathroom. Don't expect the usual complimentary body lotion here. I had to request the nozzle for the hairdrier (which was delivered) and additional coat hangers (which weren't ). There is however a massive mini bar selection of alcohol and retro sweeties if that's what floats your boat. A nice touch is the iPhone and laptop charger but the bathroom accessories would have been more appreciated, by me at any rate.

There are wooden crates for storing your bits n' bobs and a record player with a few albums for you to play ..... eh?

The bar staff in Sophie's, the rooftop bar, were very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. However the terrace could do with upgrading their outdoor heaters. Not sure what the swings up there are about - a photo shoot perhaps?

Comfort and basic requirements were compromised by the Dean Hotel trying too hard to be contemporary.

Ok. Let's say you want to feel on trend, enjoy contemporary design, good drinks, a nice a la cart breakfast and pretty central location, the Dean is the place for you. There is a roof bar, Sophie's (the restaurant) has good food and nice drinks and I love the art on the walls, at the lobby and corridors. But, and it's a big one. if you want to get a good night's sleep, and unless you'd rather spend the night in one of many clubs both right down the street and literally under the hotel, you'd better head somewhere else. Thing is - nights at the Dean are noisy (they provide you with earplugs so there is no lack of awareness). Still. Even on the top floor the clubbing scene just underneath you is quite energetic. In other words - if you in Dublin to party, that's your place. If you are here to work, maybe not.

Room tip: Ask for a quite room. Beware of first floor because you are literally under the club.

I booked 3 nights at The Dean for my boyfriends Christmas present. Loved the look of it on the website, our kind of place. It wasn't the cheapest hotel I could find, but loved the look of it and so glad I paid that bit extra. We turn up a few hours before check in, and whilst the room wasn't ready, we were able to unload our bags and head out into Dublin. It's only a 15 minute walk (max) to Grafton St/Temple Bar, so perfect location. When we headed back to the hotel our bags had already been taken up to our room and we were amazed. We were in a Superoom (406) - it was big, light, airy, had Adele's 19 in its vinyl selection and it was just great. The quirky and cool touches really made our stay. The only downside was that the double bed was just 2 single's pushed together, we would have preferred a whole mattress!

As advertised, it was noisy because of Copper Face Jacks, but again, this was as advertised. With earplugs it wasn't a problem, but if we stayed again I'd maybe ask for an odd numbered room on the other side of the building.

We didn't get chance to head up to Sophie's because we had so much planned, but heard great things about it and the menu looked delicious. When it came to check out, again we were able to dump our bags so we could enjoy a few more hours in Dublin before our flight (coincidentally - the Dean is super easy to get to from the airport using the €6 Airlink bus - literally stops round the corner).

Would absolutely recommend to anyone and if I was to return to Dublin I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

What a great hotel, with matching service. Cannot fault a thing. We arrived early, the room was ready along with an upgrade for my birthday (wife booked as a surprise). The room was comfortable and well equipped. All mod cons, but in an old school way. Even a Netflix account on the TV. The staff were very friendly. The cocktails were amazing. The breakfast, you couldn't fault. All and all.... this is a great hotel. (Location is beside a nightclub, but u know what your getting noise wise, so you can't really complain --- not that we had any complaints) Cant wait to return.

Room tip: Dont stay here if you dont like noise - Night club right next door - But other than that, its a top hotel

We just had the most amazing stay in the Dean. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite and it was just the icing on the cake! The staff from the bottom to the top floor were amazing and the atmosphere was brilliant.
The hotel itself is super funky i just loved all the quirky bits and pieces going on.
The views from Sophies on the top floor are incredible and what a setting to dance the night away. we just simply had the best time and hope to return very soon.
