Took a lunch break at the Ely with the crew. We were directed towards the cellars which were done up nicely and very spacious. Our server, kathryn was friendly, efficient and gave us the impression that she was well up on the fare on offer.
We had steak, pork and monkfish dished. All were presented nicely on large plates, but the steak looked very small and was not worth the money. Both meat dishes were rather salty too. However, the Monkfish was tender and tasty and put a smile on my face. The choice of wine was good for a lunch menu, with prices starting at 24 euro a bottle.
We overheard another diner order steak well done, as she explained that she was pregnant. Fair play to the staff. The woman's steak was brought out (minus the egg sauce) and the waiter explained that the chef purposely did not include the sauce on the plate, but he would be happy to serve the egg sauce separately if she wished. This was good attention to detail.
We will visit again, but will ask for less salt next time.
