Description: A stunning destination for the lovers of food, wine and beer. In a 200 year old tobacco and wine warehouse, ely bar & brasserie offers everything from a relaxed family dinner, pre-theatre menus, private dining rooms, Saturday brunch and after work drinks. Our classic bar and brasserie menu reflects the best of seasonal Irish produce - organic where possible, with all meats sourced through our family farm in The Burren, Co Clare.

Took a lunch break at the Ely with the crew. We were directed towards the cellars which were done up nicely and very spacious. Our server, kathryn was friendly, efficient and gave us the impression that she was well up on the fare on offer.

We had steak, pork and monkfish dished. All were presented nicely on large plates, but the steak looked very small and was not worth the money. Both meat dishes were rather salty too. However, the Monkfish was tender and tasty and put a smile on my face. The choice of wine was good for a lunch menu, with prices starting at 24 euro a bottle.

We overheard another diner order steak well done, as she explained that she was pregnant. Fair play to the staff. The woman's steak was brought out (minus the egg sauce) and the waiter explained that the chef purposely did not include the sauce on the plate, but he would be happy to serve the egg sauce separately if she wished. This was good attention to detail.

We will visit again, but will ask for less salt next time.

My wife was so excited to go to the Ely. We were staying at the Gibson and it was pretty close and looked nice and read good reviews about it. Our food was pretty good, Burger was good; and Chicken stuffed with pork was ok, it was a small portion and a little dry. It was the service that disappointed the most. The feeling we got didn't fit the relaxed and welcoming description. The atmosphere felt pretentious and on the stale side. We saw people eating their hamburgers with their knives and forks which sort of summed up the atmosphere for us. The servers weren't overly friendly, didn't even check with us how our meal was and seemed almost offended when we decided not to order dessert or a 2nd drink. I'm not sure if it was that we were tourists, maybe it is more of a local hangout. It didn't give us the warm nice feeling you should get at a nice restaurant and while visiting from another country that we've gotten from many others. Overall it was ok, but based on our experience especially the service and atmosphere we would certainly not return and would look elsewhere as there are a way too many other options,

Went on our last night as a family, felt abit out of place with our 10 year old but they did have a kids menu. Food beautifully presented and a good quality, service were not over friendly took ages to get our drinks but then we were rushed with the meal and 1 hour later £100 down and that was for 3 adults and 1 child main and 2 desserts. Recommend best for adults only in the evening, lots of outdoor sitting and lancets if people feel the chill.

We had a lovely brunch here. I had the black pudding and ham hock croquette. It was delicious. My mum had the chicken burger, which was succulent and fresh. We had Fabulous service and wonderful wine. I would definitely come back.

Just had an evening at Ely CHQ watching the sun go down, enjoying a few drinks and some bar nibbles. Very friendly staff, lovely cocktails and the Black stuff and good simple bar nibbles. Staying at Jury's Inn Custom House in Dublin. Very very close by .
