Locks holds fond memories for me and this new team is no exception. I took my aunty for dinner on Friday night. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived. You immediately feel at ease in this cosy environment. I'ts casual, elegant yet relaxed.
We had a selection of snacks such as beef beignets, potato crisps and homemade bread and butter. All were delicious and addictive! I chose the chargrilled squash and poached egg which was cooked to perfection and so elegantly plated. followed by the sweetcorn and crab soup which is poured at the table,a nice touch. Then we had the roast chicken moist and comforting served with girolles, bacon and leeks. The food was well matched with a great selection of wines including by the glass which suited me as I was able to try a white wine with my starter and lovely glass of Portuguese red with my main course.
Even though we were full we couldn't resist sharing the plum cake which was light and moist. A fantastic meal and great value, the service was excellent too. A must try and welcome addition to the neighbourhood.

From the moment you enter in the restaurant it feels like home, the welcoming is friendly and the atmosphere cosy.
The table are sober but nicely dressed! What is important that the chairs are very comfortable, rarely found in the restaurant!
Then it becomes more difficult to discribed the food which is just suppurb. Everything was well seasond, not with salt, but with a lot of other herbs and spices, giving you an explosian of flavours in your mouth each time you take a bite,
The oysters were fantastic, and the rest just got better, all the way to the dessert!

Having never been to the 'old Locks' I'm not going to make any comparisons but I had an absolutely lovely evening!! Waiters and waitresses alike were nothing but helpful and friendly from the moment we walked through the door!! The food is delectable!! I won't go into it too much I don't want to ruin the surprise!! Highly recommend you come hungry so you can have some snacks before your starter!! The mains were mouthwatering and the daily sides are seriously worth investigating!!! Dessert was just the right amount of sweet and light so as not to throw you over the edge!! All this with good wine and a superb view of the canal, even when it's raining it's worth it!! Set menu is extremely reasonable for the food and attention to detail!! Highly recommend!! I'll certainly be coming back for more!!
