Reviewed 23 April 2012

I got the voucher through Applegreen and all i can say is ''oh my god - heavenly'' is the only word to describe it .

23/04/2012 - I had the Mud Chamber Treatment - Treat your body to a soothing mud cleansing ceremony, where self applied seaweed based mud cleanses and revives your body. 30mins - €25 per person

WHAT IT IS :
After changing into your bathing suit/ bikini - and wrapping yourself into gowns ,You are brought to a room within the thermal suite - which seats 2 people - the scenario is explained . you're given a bowl of premixed - what looks like potters clay - and told to rub it in - the first 10mins is basically you putting the clay on yourself , then the main light is switched off so your rubbing in the mixture to your skin in pretty much darkness - then 10 mins later an orange light comes on and what looked like a shelf unit starts to make a strange noise and starts to spew out a lot of steam that is scented with i think lavender and i think i could smell eucalytus in it also.

The room gets quite full with the steam and the seats that you are seating on are lovely and heated - which is a bonus -- you just lie back and relax for the 10 mins.

A blue light comes on and the shower head above you starts kicking out what i wouldn't say was freezing water but it does shock a little when not expecting it- this also lasts 10 mins

so once it stops the main light comes back on and this is the end of your treatment

Once finished there - i went to the Heated relaxers- which are shaped to mould your body to it -- nice and chilled out there =
i then went to the aroma room - steam room with scented oils in water - this was nice but not much steam = minus point
i took the tropical mist shower - very little mist - shower heads must be blocked only coming out small bit of shower = minus
Rain shower = really cold - no adjuster for temp on it -- good for some people
i used the ice chips to rub into my skin before going into sauna -- which again was good = could do with a themometer and egg timer for people to use

Once finished in this area i went into the lounge area - they had a great selection of teas and coffee and water available - two tables and six chairs
On either side of the room -- one room called float had 3 water beds -- which i didnt get to use as there were 2 people fast asleep and the 3 bed had someones belonging spread over it -- which isnt right considering the person had gone into main treatment area

the other side is Relax -- these contain just normal beds so didnt try them out

I had some lemon tea and took to reading a magazine which was 2 yrs out of date -- they should try to keep magazines up to date - month or two latest

all in all the experience was great - apart from few little things that could be improved
- apart from that i hope to be back soon

A range of indulgent treatments are on offer at the Sansana Spa including a rock sauna, a mud room and experience showers.Sansana Spa has 9 treatment rooms, a unique water-bed relaxation room, a rock sauna and a rasul mud room. There are experience showers, an aroma steam room and a room for manicures and pedicures. The Uspa Skincare range from Australia is used

Room Tip: '' book around 1230 - 1300 hrs as this seems to be quiet time

Dear Moonbeam1976,

Thank you for sharing all of your experiences of our SansanaSPA with other reviewers on Trip Advisor. I was delighted to read such a positive and comprehensive review on all of the facilities you used and the treatments that you had.

It is certainly a wonderful facility that we are extremely proud of and I hope that you will have the opportunity to visit us again soon and enjoy the surroundings of our spa again.

I first started coming to this hotel during the course of my work - my first visit was not long after the hotel opened following a long period of expansion and modernisation. At that time I thought that I had landed in heaven, and this last trip only served to confirm the notion.
You might think that a hotel of this size would be cold and impersonal, but even after 2 years, several of the staff recognised me and took the time to chat, and that characterises the hotel, it might be big, but they do care.
Whilst it is true that the rooms at the back don't have the views of the front rooms they are nevertheless all to a very good standard, with useful facilities, and some of the better rooms are truly palatial.
The facilities are very good, from the massive underground car parking to the spa and pool; from the dining room to the way in which the land falls away giving views to the sea and marinas.
There is a wide choice of food from the restaurant to the Hardy's bar, and the breakfasts are to die for - every taste seems catered for.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone - if you want to stop and explore Dublin and the East coast of Ireland, or if you want to be in a prime stress free location to be able to catch your ferry. I am looking forward to the time when I can return - always the acid test!.

Room Tip: They are all good but the ones on the front are better.

This hotel is beautiful. Overlooking the water. There was a group of us going to a family wedding nearby and all of us loved the hotel. As part of a deal we had 2 nights BB and 1 dinner. Everyone loved the dinner and I don't think there was anything missing from the Breakfast buffet. If you could think of it, it was there. My sister had her 2 small kids with her (7 months and 19 months) and had asked for some extra towels etc in the room and instead of the usual extra towel or 2 there was at least 10 towels in the room which she was thrilled with. I just can;t say enough good things about this hotel and am looking forward to staying here again soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water but all the rooms are lovely.

the food was great, the rooms huge and we really made use of the leisure centre which was spacious and clean and had a good jazucci for the adults!
i especailly enjoyed the breakfast in the very airy and bright dining area!

close to the dart train line for the city, beside the seafront, the shops and lots of coffee houses and quirky little places to pop into.

Room Tip: try to geta large room facing the sea, to the front of hotel and ask for this

My brother got my mam and myself a voucher for an overnight stay which included breakfast, late checkout, a spa treatment and an upgraded room. From the moment we arrived the staff were lovely and welcoming. We were running a little late for our spa appointment but they were very accomodating about this. The room we got was really nice. We had the most amazing seaview and our own balcony. The spa was amazing from the moment we arrived we were given 5 star treatment. I had the dry flotation and felt so relaxed after it. After dinner we sat and watched the sunset with a glass of wine. The next day we had breakfast delivered to the room. The breakfast was really nice.

All in all this has been one of the best hotels I've stayed in and if we could have we definately would have stayed extra nights.

Room Tip: Get a seaview room!

Large hotel which has recently been developed from the original building with two modern new wings. Friendly service. Lovely view over harbour - as long as you don't get a room round the back. Aircoach stops at hotel direct from airport. Dart is 5 mins walk.
We stayed in the new wing. The room had all expected amenities including a fridge. Clean and big enough but not large enough to be called US standard. Only grumble - despite being on second floor water pressure was poor so shower was a bit of an effort.

Room Tip: Request Sea view

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Found all the staff we dealt with helpful and friendly. The hotel itself was clean as was our room. A fridge, kettle, iron and ironing board all in our room which was a great advantage as we could store snacks and milk for our frequent tea habit ! Bed very comfortable and shower had good pressure. Really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the bar food was also very tastey. A stones throw to the main street for shopping and train station also near if you want to head into the city. I would stay here again if am ever back in Dun Laoghaire.
