“Amazing trip”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Just completed Fahertys tour of Aran islands. Being from the island, Michael had great knowledge of the place. We had several stops. The first to see Dun Aengus fort. A caveat here would be there is a good twenty five minute hike to the top. If you aren't up for walking this might not be for you. However, the hike up was amazing. Arriving at the fort and taking it all in, and the spectacular views...wow. Also stopped at the churches and a couple of other spots before returning to town. There was enough time at each stop to see everything, and the commentary along the whole way was very informative. If you want to see the islands, this is the tour.

“Needs more customer understanding”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

We went to Aran islands. Full coach load. No identification system for the pax! At Aran, we went on a medium size coach so on arrival near the Fort, whilst other mini bus pax went right upto the shops and starting point, we had to walk 500 metres. Faherty should have been pro active and got smaller buses. Then, when it rained, no attempt made to help any pax who had to walk back to the beach where his bus was parked.
On return journey, due to a puncture, some of us were dropped at Aran Sweater Market. Other pax soon came. It was raining with strong wind and no coach or any staffer came to advise us on what to do. We hung around for an hour and then, really upsetting, we had to walk in the driving rain and wind from the Aran shop to the pier!
The guide did not have much knowledge and stumbled in her text. She should have been better prepared.

“This is the only way to tour the Aran islands!”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

My family of 6 recently toured InishMor & what a tour it was! So beautiful & so different from the other parts of Ireland we had seen. If you plan to see the island, do yourself a favor and book with Michael. He grew up on the island & you can tell he has such a love for the place it will make you appreciate it as well. Michael meets the tour at the coach station in Galway; you board the bus and go to the Aran islands ferry. Apparently all of the ferries are not the same size because the one we took over was small with very little standing room outside to enjoy the sea air. The ferry coming back was much larger with outside seating on top. All ferries do have indoor seating and a snack bar. The scenery on the water was beautiful. We had a perfectly sunny day, in the 70s. Do check the weather before leaving; I thought it would be cool on the island & brought jackets, but it was quite warm. When you arrive on the island you have a choice to stay with Michael or rent bikes & explore on your own. It may seem like it would be easy to cover the island by bike, but I do not recommend that at all! The island is very hilly with bumpy roads and easy to get lost. Why not stay with the guide who knows every inch of the island & will take you to see some amazing sites!?! Also know that the fee to enter the Dun Aenghus fort is not included, so bring money for that as well as for food & shopping. This wonderful island is dependent on tourism, so know that your money will be well spent here! The climb to the fort is done by foot and is very long & steep, but the views are amazing at the top! Wear comfortable shoes & sunscreen!

“Aran Island InishMór Day Tour - with the best guide”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

The largest of the Aran Islands - Inishmór - is a fantastic place with more than 7800 km of stone walls and the absolute amazing Dun Aongus fort with 300 ft. vertical drop into the Atlantic Ocean.
The best way to experience the Island is with local guide Michael and his day tours from Galway. Good craic!

“good to have local knowledge”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Tour to Inishmore was on time, stuck to schedule and was very informative. Only issue was that nowhere in the advertising or brochures does it say you have to pay separately to enter the site of Dun Aenghus. The island itself is amazing and the couple of locals I spoke to (apart from Michael the guide) were friendly and happy to talk about their home. A great experience and worth the cost.
