We visited the cheese shop to buy an assortment of cheeses for our own Happy Hour back at our hotel. Some of the cheeses were unique to Ireland, and some were imported from France and other countries, and we wanted to try a variety of them. We had a newly hired young man wait on us who didn't yet know much about the cheeses he was selling, and he had to keep consulting the manager (or owner?) about the different cheeses we were asking about. We could tell she was getting annoyed because we weren't buying large quantities. We specifically wanted to sample a lot of different cheeses, so we were ordering approximately 1/4 pound of each. The shop itself is not a necessarily pleasant place, being rather old, tired and smelly. Our experience as customers was not a very positive one. But when we got back to our hotel with our wine, baguette, and cheeses, we were very pleased with the cheeses that we had bought. Among them were Wicklow blue cheese, "real" French brie, an Irish smoked cheese, etc. The cheeses themselves were great, but not so much the service. Nowadays shopkeepers should be grateful for customers spending money in their establishments, even if it annoys them.
