“Cozy B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

The Glencree B&B is a cozy little B&B located approximately 10 minutes walking distance from Galway City Centre and is on a quiet little street. The proprietor Mrs. Maureen Nolan was the extremely kind and the perfect host. She was able to answer our questions and provide directions to points of interest nearby. The room was clean and tidy. The bathroom was small, and if traveling with more than 2 adults may become a bit crowded, but as we didn't spend much time in the room other than to sleep and shower it wasn't an issue. The only thing that you should know in advance is that while some B&B accept credit cards, Glencree does not and you must pay for your rooms when you check out cash only. Not that this is a problem but is definitely nice to know so you can set aside the needed funds beforehand. Breakfast was excellent and just in general the experience was very very nice. A must stay place when visiting Galway for sure!

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool or fitness center.

Mureen, the host, was superfrienldy and very polite!
She told us a little bit about the town and then showed us the room which was big, nice and very clean. (free wi-fi in all the rooms!)
The bathroom was big and clean too!
The next morning we had the biggest surprise: Maureen made for us a wonderful irish breakfast, and she served it in a nice breakfastroom with irish music!
The position itself is quite good: close both to the citycentre and to the seaside!
If you're looking for a place to stay in Galway this is the best choice!

I just have to start with the first impression, because it wasn't good and it really should be fixed (everything else was just fine). The main entrance to Maureen's B&B is through sliding glass doors in to a kind of sun room. Not the greatest; but the worst part is that this is the smoking room. I believe that her husband is a smoker and perhaps other guests smoke here. NOT a good first impression. Also to us sensitive noses, the sheets and towels are probably laundered with the smoke....and there is an ever-so-slight odor of smoke.

Maurine is super nice, just as everyone writes. We were not sure how long we would stay in Galway, and she was flexible to a large degree. Breakfasts were very tasty and served in a large, well appointed Irish dining room. The room was very small for three of us (two adults and an 11 year old...see photo). Everything in the guests area is very clean and fresh. The bathroom is ridiculously small; but none of this should keep you from choosing Glencree. Just knowing it ahead of time will make the expectations fit just fine.

You can walk to town, to some real Irish pubs for a pint and/or dinner; and the water front is about four to five city blocks. Centrally located to surrounding sites, you can use Maureen's place to see Canamara and points more north as well as Galway. Reasonably priced.

We stayed with Maureen for 3 nights in early October. Aside from some initial trouble in finding the place the first night, our stay was very good and Maureen could not be a better host. The B&B is about a 10-15 minute walk from the main center of town, easy peasy and a good way to walk of some of the Galway food & drink that you will definetly consume. Rooms were lovely and very clean. Perfect place if you are looking for a quiet location for couples or a family, it's not a place to party. Excellent breakfast!

Stayed here for one night and it is only a ten minute walk to the city centre. The first thing that hits you when you walk into the lobby is a stale smell of smoke! Not a problem though as once lovely Maureen has taken you to your room the smell has gone. It was very cosy and clean but bathroom very small.
Breakfast was good and lots of choice, Maureen was a great host. Overall the experience felt like you were staying over Grandmas (in a good way)!

We loved staying at this B&B while traveling with my husband and his parents. Maureen couldn't have been more welcoming. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location was good (15-20 minutes walk to city center, 5-10 to Salthill). It's close to the boardwalk along Galway Bay which is really nice. I would truly recommend this place most of all because of Maureen. She'll play you her mix tape of traditional irish ballods over a lovely Irish breakfast. She'll give you great recommendations for what to do nearby and she'll even search the room high and low for your mother-in-law's wig if need be. Don't hesitate to book this place!

We spent here just one night but everything was perfect: our host was so friendly and nice and the breakfast she made for us was really good! The position is very good: you can reach the city center with a short walk, and the seasside was realy close!
The room was big and clean and so the beathroom (not so big but still ok!)
Totally recommended!
