“Cold building and bad food - 34€ wasted”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012 via mobile

We visited the site on our way back from the Connemara Golf Club to our Hotel in Galway.
The first Impression is really professional and up-to-date. The refurbishment that was done here is Brilliant. A lot of good details and a fitting total appearence. The design concept looks very good.
Internally we faced the Same facts that were mentioned Before.
The crew is willing but not really trained and the food was a waste of money. We had garlic bread, penne carbonarra and penne bolognese.
Even though that the dough of the garlic bread was very good the complete bread hat nearly no taste. Both pasta dishes were drawned in oil. The bolognese was eaten just until the half, because too much ingredients and herb made it taste like anything else but pasta.
The carbonara was a combination from Pasta, ham Stripes, mushrooms and a Bit Parmesan as topping. There was Not a slightest Ideal of any Kind of Sauce or Dressing. As mentioned it was just drawned in Olive Oil. For us it was wasted Time and Money and there is definiertes no Reason to Return for us.

“Mediocre food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2011

This place really looks the part and they have done a fantastic job of renovating the building. Although it is often quiet, the bonus to this is that you can often get a cosy seat, and enjoy a good chat over a glass of wine.
The food is extremely mediocre. Another reviewer has mentioned the "overgarnishing", and I could not agree more. Although the core dish is not bad, on each of the three occasions that I've eaten there, it has been marred by totally unnecessary items on the plate, in such volumes that it totally detracts from the dish. Examples are the thai curry served with rice - fine if you leave it there, but they have thrown it into a poppdaum basket which goes immediately soggy. We also had steaks on another occasion, which were already served with a pepper sauce - not happy to stop there the chef drizzled the plate with copious amounts of cranberry sauce - hardly compatible. Finally, and in my eyes the most disappointing of all, was the eggs benedict, one of my favourites and served obviously with a creamy hollandaise sauce, but in the co-op they then drizzle it with BALSAMIC VINEGAR!!!! Ruining the balance of the hollandaise, and reducing it to some manner of vinaigrette. If anyone had every bothered to ask me if I had enjoyed my meal I would have given this feedback to their faces, but I have yet to be asked. The serving staff are just not well trained for food service - they are actually very willing, helpful and pleasant. A little tweaking and a lighter hand with the extras would go a long way to improving this place.

“Traditional Irish meets eclectic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2011

This building was in turning into ruins, and the owner fixed it up to fantastic effect! Cool industrial fixtures, etc. We loved finding it, and that evening, there was some Irish music being played on the sofa downstairs. I see that some people have complained about the food/service, but we found it to be fine - just sit back and relax, folks, and enjoy the ambiance!

A great find if you're heading out to Western Ireland!

“Great Potential - Needs a Chef”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2011

I eat here with my familt recently - the menu was not cheap and the presentation decent but the food was pretty bad. The Pizza was a Margarita and had a nice base et c but was destroyed with some kind of dry herb mix which made it impossible to taste anything else. The Burger looked great but was overgarnished with vinigary onions dripping all over the place and the side salad was swimming with dressing - so much so that it took two napkins to clean it off my plate and even the the residual dressing soaked the salad leaves. As other posted have said the locationand restorationare great, the raw ingredients of the food is good but this place needs a chef that can correctly balance the flavours/ seasoning et c so the the food is more palatable. The service is not great either - we were left with no cutlery.

“So much potential.......”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2011

To be honest, I like the food. The main issue with this is the large venue that never seems full. It is never crowded.

The main issue is the service. The staff just simply isn't that interested in customer service. Almost no eye contact ...if you eat upstairs (kitchen downstairs) then the food is sometimes cold. Portions not great.....in general, 'meh.

Could be so much better if you got a proper restauranteur in there to give the place a shake up.
