Description: The Oslo Bar in Salthill boasts the first and only Microbrewery in Galway which offers a great range of international beers, fresh food and a variety of novel evenings. With an ever changing menu the Oslo keeps people coming back to enjoy the many creative dishes inspiried by "in-season and fresh" ingredents. There is a wide range of international beers but while there you should try our own Bay Ale and Stormy Porter - brewed right on the premises. The front portion contains a comfortable range of eclectic furniture and the back part, set up with German beer garden style sturdy tables. The name Oslo itself comes from the Oslo Hotel which once encompassed the whole premises.Focused on food with a daily menu served from 12 until 10 daily. Select from a good range of interesting dishes. Enjoy the Weekend with brunch including Eggs Benedict and French toast which has fast become something of a Galway institution. An open fire and large comfortable smoking area tick a few more boxes making the Oslo a really great destination.

“Rustic layout, Excellent beers”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We ate here twice during our Galway stay, primarily for the vast assortment of beers. The food was good, but probably isn't the specific reason most would choose here. Eclectic decor, with lounge area in rear. Can be noisy. We parked about two 'blocks' up the street as parking nearby is normally filled.
The locally brewed beer is, of course, very fresh.

“Fantastic!”

Great beer, great food and kid friendly! We arrived hungry with two small children and left satisfied and impressed! We will definitely be returning if we are in the area and recommending the Oslo to any friends who find themselves in Galway.

“Great food and an impromptu brewery tour!”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

We had a delicious meal and taster flight of Galway Bay Brewery beers. We stopped one afternoon while visiting Galway, and had the place almost to ourselves due to the time of day. We both ordered the special, a very tasty chicken bruschetta sandwich. On the side I got the chips, and my husband ordered the sweet potato soup and it was all very tasty.

We are huge beer connoisseurs....a.k.a. beer snobs, so we always seek out local craft breweries. We tried 5 of the beers from Galway Bay Brewing, which is housed at the back of the restaurant. (Although, they are in the processes of moving to a new bigger location). We tried: Buried At Sea (milk stout), Full Sail (American IPA), Of Foam & Fury (Imperial IPA), Incognita (Saison), and Bay Ale (Irish Red). They were all very good, but our favorite was the Imperial IPA.

While eating and sampling the beers, we talked to the brewery manager, Allen. He was very passionate about craft beer and we enjoyed speaking to him. We are from Colorado, and are no strangers to good craft beer. Just so happens that one of Allen's favorite Breweries is in Colorado (they actually had some beer from Odell's in Colorado), so we had a lot to talk about. When we were ready to leave, Allen offered to give us a tour of the brewery. It was such a pleasant surprise! We always enjoy talking craft beer! It's a small, but growing operation. We wish them luck and look forward to seeing their beers in liquor stores in the U.S. someday.

“Winner!”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

After a late arrival in Galway, we discovered this gem after a long roam around being told that kitchens were closed. The restaurant happily welcomed us and held the kitchen open while we made our selection - without any pressure or being rushed, which was lovely. The server recommended the stew and I am so glad I gave in, it was delicious! My traveling companions all enjoyed their meals as well. The brewery offers beer flights which was an excellent way to test out their wares, as a North American I'm so used to the Craft Beer craze that I was getting a bit sick of JUST Guinness. The Foam & Fury Double IPA was phenomenal. The only downside to the night is the live band that was playing in the back was Terrible! I guess the big talent doesn't come out on a Thursday night? Super good meal and atmosphere though, and free WiFi!
