“Bad experience in the Harbour”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

I have stayed at the Harbour before (3 years ago) and had absolutely no issues but last night was awful, the room was clean but there was a double window which meant we couldn't open the window and as a result the room was very stuffy. Breakfast was included but when we went down the restaurant was very busy wand the staff and kitchen were clearly not able to cope, the food was almost gone, we had to eat in the lobby, we couldn't find anything and the servers were run off their feet. All this would have been ok if it wasn't for when I took out a clean towel after a shower and discovered balls of hair stuck to the towel..... Appalled is not the word! I don't think I will be staying there again!!

Dear “Niamh42”,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel & for choosing to stay with us.

I would like to apologize on behalf of the team, that you did not totally enjoy your stay in the Harbour Hotel.

We do have a double seal on windows facing the front, this is to reduce as much noise as possible however they do slide open and the second set opens outwards. Being in a built up area we have some traffic & footfall noise & by having the seal we are ensuring that you have a restful nights sleep.

We do receive quite a lot of good comments regarding our breakfast & again it is very disappointing to read that you did not receive our usual service. I have reviewed your comments with our Food & Beverage Manager & we would like to thank you for highlighting this to us. As for the “balls of hair” I can only apologize. This should never have happened & I will ensure that a training session takes place to ultimate this from happening again.

I am very sorry to read that you would not return & would be very grateful for the opportunity to apologize personally & discuss your feedback. My contact number is 091 894 800.

Once again I am very sorry & I do hope that you will return to us one day.

Warm Regards,

Stefan Lundstrom
General Manager

Repeat guests at this hotel 1st-3rd November . Had a lovely weekend yet again. Food in the hotel is fab. Very welcoming and friendly staff and management. Great location for bars and restaurants also . Only 5 minutes walk from main shopping areas. Parking at the hotel is very accessible also. Had beautiful room overlooking the harbour. Great views. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we have it booked for December again already.....

Had a wonderful time at this hotel 1-3 Nov. Everything was perfect - reception staff helpful and friendly, reception decor stylish and modern, bedrooms spotlessly clean with all the usual hotel features including complimentary tea and coffee. Bed was extremely comfortable and room was warm. Our rooms were at front of hotel so there was some traffic noise but didn't spoil sleep.
Food was delicious. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We had the 3-course evening meal which was flavoursome and great value for money.
I've stayed in many hotels but I have to say what gave this one the edge was the attentive and friendly staff. They genuinely seemed to care about the comfort of the guests. I will definitely recommend and stay here again if back in Galway. Location is perfect for shopping and eating in city centre

We, five ladies, had a great time in Galway , last week in October. We stayed at the Harbour Hotel , just 5 minutes from main city center . We could not fault this hotel ,the food ,breakfast and dinners where excellent , rooms were warm, cosy, and spotless. Parking at hotel cost 5 euro per day, being so close to city center I thought this was not bad . Staff were lovely .
I would go back to this hotel and would also recommend it to my friends .

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of hotel there was no road noise at night.

The hotel is very accessible, near the railway station, no need to take a cab just about 5 minutes walk. You can drink in the lobby lounge by the fire place till late night. There's not much view really, preferrebly high floor if possible coz we stayed in first floor and when we open the curtain it feels like people can see you from outside. First time I tried the Irish Breakfast and it was good. There is also a tour bus passing by every morning to take guests for different kind of tours, just approach reception to assist you with the timings and payment directly to the bus driver. Over all experience was very good. Best place to stay because it is close anywhere, no need to take a cab just walking distance to wherever you wish to go.

Room Tip: High floor!

Stayed here while with Go Ahead Tours, very centrally located to center of town. My room was very clean and bed was one of the most comfortable while I was in Ireland, however, there were no windows to the room, only two skylights, which was odd. Fortunately, I could open them for fresh air.

Room Tip: ask for a room with windows

Stayed here for 2 nights Oct 13. The hotel was friendly, clean and I stay again if in the area.
The room was large with everything I needed and the bed comfy.
The food was also very good.

The car park is however the worst car park I have ever needed to use.
