“Great location, friendly staff”
Reviewed 28 July 2011

Not knowing Galway very well, I found this location excellent, on the outer ring road so not too many roundabouts or narrow streets to negotiate, but still within comfortable walking distance of Eyre Square. Staff were exceptionally friendly and our room was spotless and comfortable. Only negative was the bar which was undergoing renovations when we were there, so a function had been pressed into service as a temporary location all set up with tables and chairs like a restaurant, and with a very thin partitian wall between it and another function room which had a lively party going on. My companion and I ended up in fits of giggles, it reminded us of a bad debs in the 80s. Might have been better to move the bar facility into the lobby while the work was going on, but no doubt it will be worth it in the end. Nice little touches in the room, sewing kit, cookies provided with the tea etc. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a night in July 2011 (peak tourist season)!! Found the staff very friendly and accomodating. Had dinner in the bar restaurant which was very enjoyable and reasonably priced for the most part. The hotel room itself was spacious, warm, very clean and offered all the necessary amedities for a family holiday. If I would make one critiicism it would that the room was almost too warm, making it uncomfortably hot during the night. It's location is ideal for those not wishing to be among the hussle and noise of the city of Galway, but still close enough to get to!

Room Tip: Keep your key card on hand for elevator, room access and room electricity use!

Stayed here for a weekend in March 2011. Nice place, typical of Irish hotels built in the 1990's, room was a decent size, all very clean and tidy. Had dinner in the bar, again it was fine. The place won't stand out as the greatest hotel you have ever been in, it has a very generic feel that you could be anywhere in the World (except for the torrential rain outside!!), but everything about it was fine and you won't have any complaints. I thought the fried breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is not walking distance in to Galway town centre. When driving there it is badly signposted so Sat Nav is a must! There is a small shop across the road with all the necessities.

Thank you for your review. Delighted you enjoyed your stay.
We are located one mile from City Centre. The Dunnes Stores Terryland Centre is just down the road and the main Galway Shopping Centre is just across the roundabout from there.
The Omniplex Cinema and McDonalds etc. is across the road from the Shopping Centre.
We have a bus stop across the road and a freephone for taxis in the lobby.
Our new Bar Beoga has been launched since you were last here - you can see pictures of it on Facebook. We have also won a couple of awards since you were here - one for the use of Irish in the hotel - and another for Best practise from Failte Ireland in Service, standards and procedures.
These will hopefully help us to continue to be a Good Solid Hotel - which thank you we are delighted to be! - and also help to set us slightly apart from other establishments.
Hoping to welcome you soon again. le gach dea-ghúi, Go Raibh maith Agat.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night during our 1+ week trip driving around Ireland. The hotel was nice. The staff friendly. The room was clean and the bed was nice and big. The bar/lounge in the lobby had good food and great service. We did not eat in their main dining room, but we looked at the menu it and was a bit pricey. Free wifi throughout the hotel and free parking was included.

The only complaint I have about this hotel is the location. It is a ways from Galway City Center. Their website advertises "...just minutes walk from the Galway City Centre..." A 25-30 min walk! We didn't even walk into the city the night we got into Galway. We were tired and then we learned it was going to be about 30 minutes to get there by foot! No thank you. We did explore Galway the next morning, but parked in a near by parking lot.

First time to stay in The Menlo Park Hotel in Galway and was very impressed. Excellent staff and lovely breakfast. Towels and bed linen beautifully clean and fresh. Excellent location for the city centre, a few mins by car or a 15 - 20 mins walk. Hotel also has free parking and wifi. Will definitely go back!

The hotel was lovely, rooms were really nice, clean and spacious. The staff are the highlight of our stay, they were lovely and really went out of their way for us. The breakfast was gorgeous and a great selection. We ate dinner one night in the restaurant and it was very nice too. The hotel is situated about 2 minutes drive for the city itself, or if you don't have a car we got a taxi very easily in and out at night. I love that the hotel is out of the city as there is no street noise at night and plenty of parking in the car park. We will defintely be back.

I stayed here one night the last week of June 2011 while on pilgrimage with my church. Having been to Europe I had a better idea of what expect than others. Many in the group had trouble understanding ground floor, first floor, second floor, etc. The hotel requires a key card to call the elevator and also to turn on the electricity in the rooms. I had to laugh when I heard members of the group complaining that the lights didn't work in their rooms. The staff was wonderful and excellent to work with. Whereas the room was a basic hotel room, it was clean, fresh and tidy -- equivalent to an American Holiday Inn. Our group dinner was very good, served very quickly as there were many other tour groups there also. Breakfast the next morning was buffet style and had a very large selection. For the money it was a very good value and one of the nicer hotels were stayed in during our weeklong trip.

Room Tip: Have to use your key card to call the elevator and turn on the room lights
