“A great experience in Galway”
Reviewed 14 February 2013

Arriving into Galway for a weekend, We stayed for nearly a week. We were greeted by a lovely small hostel, with plenty of room, and for what I experienced the nicest staff. Extremely friendly and welcoming. Facilities were nice and user friendly, the atmosphere was full of fun, good humour, intelligent conversation and the smell of baking was fantastic. I'd recommend this place to all, its city central, and a quality of the city. If you require to be pampered and your hand held, book a high price hotel or else take advantage of this very reasonable alternative.

It is a not a very comfy hostel, neither it is not so clean, but is very well located and very cheap. We paid 12 euros per person/day during Christmas time without reservation. It was one of the few hostels open in the city, so, in conclusion, a very good price for everything.

Stayed here with my wife and baby on a trip around Ireland.

The good news - we found a place to stay on what we didn't realize until way late was the end of the Volvo Around-the-World-Yacht-Race. Hooray!

Positives -

- Very conveniently located, walking distance of lots to see. When we got there, a big to-do for the New Zeland team was literally across the street.
- Reasonably priced.
- Kitchen was nice (actually, two kitchens!)
- Nice sitting room.
- Staff was courteous
- Accepted babies, which most hostels in town were not willing to do..

Negatives -
- Pay to use internet, even with own computer.
- Room was comically small. The double bed literally fit into the gap exactly. This wasn't much of a problem for us, as we were there to see Galway, not sit in our room.

Stayed here in September 2012 because the location is close to the center of town and the price was reasonable but, if I had seen the rooms first I would have paid a bit more to stay elsewhere. The rooms are cramped, have high school style have lockers but, are only mildly clean. The beds and bedding are old, and uncomfortable. I slept fully clothed. The staff were nice and the amount of amenities were good but, if you get a bit creeped out by old/slightly unclean looking rooms and bedding I would pay a bit more and stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Ask to see the rooms first, maybe the ones upstairs are nicer. Oh, and ask for a 'quiet' roo...

We stayed in a private room, which was pretty small. The bathrooms have surely seen better days, but the people were nice, and the common room was a really good one - they had a lot of DVDs and a great TV. There is also a kitchen. Internet is an extra cost.
The location is good - it's in a quiet neighborhood, but no too far from the city center.
All in all - if you're planning on a short stay in Galway and are not planning on spending a lot of time in the hostel, this is a great pick.

The place is overcrowded, with far too many beds crammed into small rooms. If the place is at capacity with people who have luggage, I can't imagine that it meets fire safety standards. Security for rooms and possessions is a joke. The place is not clean, it is damp and it smells. Do not stay here.

Room Tip: Don't!

The rooms are small and the bunkbeds are in bad shape (don't hold onto the railing as you climb up and down or you may be in for a surprise). The kitchens are big, so if you want to make your own food, this may be a good choice. There are no keys - you have to ring a doorbell to get in the front door. You can do better for the price, but this place is sufficient if you need somewhere to sleep. If you go, try to shower at a good time so that you can use one of the individual bathrooms instead of a stall in the communal mixed-gender bathroom that has nowhere private for you to change.
